It seems that someone managed to exploit a flaw in Imgur (image hosting service, for those who don't know). Details are still pretty hazy, but the workings of the exploit have been discovered:
/r/technology discussion about it
detailed post about what it's known so far and explanations

TLDR: avoid Imgur until they sort this mess, or just disable flash and js while browsing it (like, you should already be doing that anyway).

It looks like they patched the vulnerability, now you can look at cat gifs again (thanks to MuahahahaMeow for the heads-up)

Don't think you should worry too much. But let's stay tuned on any information about this :)

It looks like only a few images contained the exploit, so you're ok.

It's apparently only imgur links linked from /r/4chan on reddit. So as long as you don't browse /r/4chan you should be in the clear, so far.

I never really used imgur much, I use pu.ush ALOT more. Still sucks for the people that rely on that service though.

They will be forced to migrate from flash to html5, sooner or later.
