Actually, yes.
But I've talked to many IRS scammers, and this guy was probably the worst.
Believe it or not, a majority of IRS scammers are actually paid hourly employees in a call center environment. I believe these guys were lone wolves who took what they learned from an IRS scam gig and tried doing it on their own.
A hallmark of the Indian IRS scam is to threaten the target with jail time. He must have forgotten that part.
That, in conjunction with the astronomically unrealistic amount... just such an amateur scammer. LOL
Most scammer's have the target pay with MoneyGram or other forms of wiring. I almost laughed when he said "Federal iTunes Vouchers".

That scam at least can be believable: someone is running away from political upheaval and needs a secure but hardly-traced method to transfer money through a middleman. This is at least something that actually happens. Even if a quick search on Nigeria shows that it is a federal republic for quite some time now… (And not even a military junta or dictatorship, strangely enough.)
But the United States government asking you to go to a shop and buy vouchers for a random tech company to pay overdue federal taxes? I know the stereotype is that a common American is about as intelligent as a sack of bricks, but come on!

Mr. talgaby, you are way overdue with creating GAs on SG. Are you aware of that, sir?
Now, you can make a payment in ramen noodles or face severe consequences such as losing your SG Premium account status.

They actually robo-dials thousands of random U.S. phone numbers a day, leaving a pre-recorded message on peoples' voicemails to call back or face jail time.
Statistically, calling so many numbers, they will hit a small percentage people who are scammable. The elderly, the unintelligent... sometimes even high-functioning "special" people who live on their own and have money. (Which is deplorable!)
These guys, though, were amateurs.
They actually never called me. When you call them back after they leave a message on your voicemail, they will cross-reference the number in their system to verify that it was a number that they even called. I get around that usually by saying that the cell phone they called me on died, or that they called my workplace and my office is on a phone network and I'm not sure which line they called me on. ;)

Shit, I never even considered those with minor handicaps who nonetheless could be tricked by something like this :(

I was about to get offended and argue with you about us Americans, then I remembered Hillary Clinton and had to agree with you!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, you were for sure getting phished.
Sometimes the scammer will even spoof your real bank's phone number on the caller ID, which is very scary!
A good rule of thumb is to never give sensitive info over the phone if they call you.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, yeah. Sadly I don't know what happens later. The moment they asked me for credentials I bursted in laughter and phisher hanged up...
But this happend once only. More annoying are reps trying to sell new cell plan. "You are paying XXX now, we will cut it in half" pitch. One thing tho. XXX is amount I've paid last time years ago D
Comment has been collapsed.
That's just tele-advertising though. Not exactly a scam (usually).
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah... didn't realize that (they introduced themselves as your phone company, I mean). That's fair. Usually if someone calls me claiming to be from some company whose services I use (bank, phone, internet), I cut the call and call them back at their official hotline. Much safer that way.

The more finely tuned IRS scammers do scam quite a lot of people per day, unfortunately. :(
Thanks so much for the kind words!

You'd be surprised! There's actually a number of different phone scams.
IRS, Windows / Apple Support, "online pharmacy", etc. I have a number of them featured on my channel.

I had a hard time not laughing my ass off at that part!

lol
I can't believe he continued scamming me after I said my name.
Comment has been collapsed.
I really appreciate that!
I'm pretty sure the second guy saw what my name was in their system right when he suddenly realized I was messing with them. lol
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha yeah they were quite optimistic in trying to pursue this regardless of the blatant trolling on your part. Also, the number of videos on your channel begs the question; how often do you get these calls?! O.o
Also, I'm in tears watching the other videos. :'D
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, funny thing is, I don't get calls from these specific scammers - I actually call them!
I find their numbers on sites like 800notes, where people report suspicious numbers.
I cold-call them and pretend like I received a call from them. :D

Hehehe. :)
Make sure you check out the Pharmacy scammer video.

Thanks. Please do!
All of the videos on my channel are real and unscripted. Often times, I don't even know how I'm going to act / what I'm going to say until I start talking to them.

After I had just a long and exhausting conversation with a trader that got impersonated by some guy, but then got infuriated when I warned him about that fact and instead reported me "to the authorities". I still can't ... xD
This is rather refreshening.... :)

I've had a few run-ins with attempted Steam scammers... I know exactly what you're talking about. XD
I always assume they're ~16 years-old.

i cant believe this is real how did u know he was indian ? just curious

Their accents and word choices, such as "each and everything". Also, virtually all IRS tax scammers calling U.S. citizens are from India. The scam itself was developed by scammers from India.

well i believe it could have been real cause me myself gave a job interview for a call center job for at&t and was selected :P but things did not work out later or id be there now :P ! but the only hint i got from this video was he told u to buy itunes vouchers :3 why would irs do that lel

I am surprise you did not insert a "That is what your mother said last night." line.

XD I wish I did.
You can hear the scammer somewhat chuckle after he says it. lol

Heh, that was pretty good. A while ago I was receiving spam in my email. I messed around by replying with fake personal info (and that my occupation was "Pornography Historian") and playing dumb. After a couple of emails, I sent them my phone number and told them to call me so that I can give them my bank info.
...Only, it wasn't my phone number, but the phone number to a John Cena recording. Needless to say, I never got a reply from them again.

I know it means; I know how it is. You need kind words to keep you going, to motivate you. And I tend to help with that whenever and wherever I can. :) There is never too much support when creative work is in question.
It's the least I can do.
Advance and never halt! :)

I find them.
I monitor sites like 800notes.com and some other sites where people report suspicious telephone numbers.

haha yea the "Federal iTunes Vouchers" about killed me when he said it,one of these times you should say your with the FBI cyber crimes division and that you keep them on the call so that you had time to trace the call back to them and to stay at there location while your officers arrive, just to see what they say or do after lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
lol
I really wanna do that, but I think it's a federal crime to claim you're FBI. :(
Still, it's very tempting. lol
Comment has been collapsed.
You don't have to say you are FBI, regular police has cyber crime divisions too, no? ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
im pretty sure its only illegal if you are using it to gain access to things you otherwise could not or tried to use it to get out of trouble or make a false arrest, also you can use a play on words and not claim you "are" the fbi but instead say you are "with" the fbi as in one could be standing next to you not that you are one,but let them make the false assumption, either way cant hurt to look into the law on it as i dont think its very strict as anyone can go buy a fake police outfit/fbi shirts ext for Halloween, cosplay etc with no issues as long as they are not out trying to make arrests lol.

At moments I felt as if he was glitching, you know? :D like a virtual companion answering some unconnected rubbish when it doesn't have the correct answer xD

At one time, I was using a Google Voice number through Google Hangouts, where you can make free domestic calls.
I don't remember how I did it, but I somehow deleted my number and now whenever I call, it's a blocked number. BUT, some scammers are able to trace my number and the times they've read it back to me, it was a random number which changed every time I called. (I'm not sure how they traced it.)
I'm going to eventually switch to a program called X-Lite. You can call from a different number every time, which will be awesome because some of the scammer rings I was pestering got tired of me calling and blocked all blocked numbers. lol
Thanks for watching!

Nice. I look forward to messing around with X-Lite.
