Same, I tried 5 times too and it took my money 5 times. I sent and email to the IndieGala support and they said that sending the money back would create some problems and other things like they are for charity, indie devs.. but they said they could try to do something.

This is the email:

May we ask you why you bought the games multiple times?
We are very sorry for the inconvenience of this morning.
We had a delay in transactions this morning due to a blackout caused by the snow storm that was on Rome last night
so it wasn't our fault.
But we explicitly say on the website to wait minimum 30 minutes at least, then try resend or contact support.
In no place we say to attempt another transaction.

Also please consider that your money could support charity, 9 game developers and 5 indie music artists, whose product
have a full retail price of 160$.
And consider, also, that you will receive an amount of galapoints proportional to your purchase, so you will gain bonuses in future promotions.

If, despite this, you still believe that developers and artists are not deserving the price in excess you paid and especially nor indiegala that with pressure and overwork tries to please thousands of people without sleep,
Then go on and open a paypal dispute for transactions in excess and we will refund it,
but you will have to give back your bundles you don't want and ensure keys are not activated so we could reload on the system. It will take some time.

Or we may give you some other steam keys for some games ( obviously the games in the gala ) of your choice.

It was likely for the sheer number of payments. Banks sometimes lock cards as a security measure if an unusual amount of transactions are made in a short time period.
