No matter how you want to argue what's right and what's wrong, it should be left up to the gifter how he wants his gift to be given, or who he wants to give it to. It's his prerogative if he wants to give it only to people who have given something in return, so why should the site restrict his ability to do that?

No, trading involves a direct exchange of games/money. In here you're not trading, and not expecting anything in return either, you would know if you'd give something here perhaps.

Contributor giveaways are exactly the same as private or group giveaways. They exist for members of the steamgifts community to give away games to the ones who deserve it. It's the same as creating a group giveaway only for your close friends in a private steam group or creating a private giveaway that you only link to the people you feel deserve to enter (which could be everyone who contributed $50 or more). Contributor giveaways are here to make it easier for people to give away games to the people they want to gift these games to. The last game i gave away was a contributor giveaway because i personally want to reward the people who help make a site like this possible.
I admit that I haven't read all the comments, so I'm not sure if this has been said.

Searched FAQ, didn't find anything. How do these work? Why are they here? Since their implementaion users who didn't contribute get to pick among indie bundles mostly.
