Front Mission 3 for the PSX.
For those not familiar with it, it's a turn based strategy game, but with mecha. Fully customisable mecha. So, you can not only pick what weapons and the paint colour, but each body part (legs, arms, torso) that have differing spec.
Do you want arms that have good accuracy? You need to sacrifice hit points and carrying capacity. Need bruiser tank body? You'll likely kit your max weight and only able to bring one weapon.
Each and every body part also has a chance to unlock a special skill, so you might want to build with low mobility legs for a few runs, just to unlock a badass special power, that is then yours to keep, even after switching parts.
And of course, parts are all upgradable too.
It's weapon range system was much better than Front Mission 1 which basically had every weapon work only at short range (your tile touching theirs) except the missiles. But FM3, ranged weapons acted ranged. A sniper rifle could hit halfway across the map.
The pacing of the fights were just perfect. The damage distribution was as you'd hope (shotguns damage all parts equally, machine guns scatter damage randomly, rifles and missiles slam a single part) combine that with being able to disable and break parts, you could snipe the weapon arms or crush their movement, it made it all very tactical.
I play it pretty much once a year and I still don't even know what the story is. I just keep skipping to the fights!

I'm glad that games exclusive to ONE console or platform stay exclusive, unless other episodes have been already released on PC.
That's why I'm glad Bloodborne, Bayonetta and Kingdom Hearts remain on their respective consoles, EXCEPT when they're multiplatform which is the case of Sonic Unleash...Colors.

I've noticed that Steam has a lot of unexpected ports hit its storefront recently, and most of them are very late and very unexpected. Tales of Symphonia, Valkyria Chronicles, and Sonic Lost World come to mind, and with another one of this kind of port - this time for Vanquish - coming up, I've decided to ask what would be the game you would choose to be ported to PC. Unfortunately, first-party Nintendo exclusives don't count, because we want the ports to be at least a little plausible, but Playstation and Xbox exclusives are fair game.
