The story in FF13 is very linear, but the style, they use to tell it, is not bad at all! It is just different, because you are experiencing the story from the point of view of different characters until they join eachother (dont want to spoil anymore here). In every other FF you did play your "main" character almost all the time and the story was told from his/her point of view mostly.

Cant say anything about character design, because everyone will have his/her own opinion and like or dislike them.

FF13 got a big patch in december 2014 wich did fix every porting issue except one: No text based information about your enemies in your encyclopedia while using 1080p resolution, working fine on 720p and lower.

Dont know if DE got eny fixes for the mess they did implement with the directors cut.

To say that you can get more out of DE facing its very short and even more linear story is a very subjective opinion made by ignoring the facts of the opposite. And sorry, but your "more freedom to do things your way" in DE is a lie! Seems like you did never reach chapter 11 (the real start of the main game) in FF13 or just did stick to the main line of action after that and not even try to explore the world or discover any secrets ;-)

I am NOT saying, that DE is a bad game, i did enjoy the normal version while both of my playthroughs (even if both of them were rly short, something like 20-30 hours each) And did hate the same game while playing the Directors Cut after it got released because the "improved" version turned out to be a "deproved" one. I had my fun in both versions for a short time, but i dont see any point of replaying the game ever again just to enter the any of the rooms through a different door to kill the same enemy by shooting it twice instead of once this time

I think you misunderstood me. I don't hate RPGs in general. In fact, i love them...well..most of them. Deus Ex Human Revolution itself is an RPG. An action-RPG, truth be told, but it does have the RPG elements to it nonetheless.

The things I said are stupid are JRPGs, the "J" standing for JAPANESE. Which is not to say that those are only the RPGs made in Japan, but all RPGs that take inspiration from them., who chose that ap[rticular style of storytelling, graphics and gameplay. The RPGs where the art style and graphics are what you would see in bad etchi anime, targeted to stupid teenage girls(their version of tween-shit dramas) and dumb-ass teenage boys with minds clouded by hormones. The games where the protagonist is almost ALWAYS a clueless, huge creepy eyed teenager(boy or girl), with spiky hair made with special cement hair-gel, dressed like he's headed to the most awful emo convention in town, wielding a sword bigger than him/her and living in some fantasy-dream-land world with rainbows, flying ponies and butterflies everywhere, where some shitty mystery involving the creation of said world must be uncovered or that some evil industrial corporation wants to ruin with it's corrupting capitalist ways. Games in which if the protagonist is female she's always a beacon for female empowerment, purporting herself a strong independent woman that, at the end of the day, has to be saved by the big strong male, which then becomes her love interest thus turning out to be a false(and thus pathetic) prophet for feminism. And if the protagonist is a male, he's constantly dark, angsty and brooding, having to always take "important and mature" decisions for the good of the world, because..."he a hiro". Oh right, and he constantly whines about how crappy his life is, despite always having at least 3 hot anime-perfect-figure babes desiring him, following him around like love-sick puppies and occasionally fighting each other over him, while he constantly dismisses and shrugs them off like a dog getting rid of fleas. Please, tell me when all this crap I just talked about starts resembling your actual life, cause that would be fucking amazing.

And I haven't even talked abut the actual game-play. The best way to describe the combat in these games would be as a crappy, broken down game of chess, in which instead of capturing your opponents pieces when you catch him off guard, you and him take turns whacking each other's pieces with your own and the one who has the pieces made of the strongest oak tree wins...EVENTUALLY...WAY, WAY eventually. The rest of the game-play consists of talking to some stupid NPCs, that would make Usagi from Sailor Moon seem like a genius, about topics which usually involves how powerful a girl you are or how brooding a boy you are. Awesome, huh? Oh...and running around really badly designed environments, doing a whole lot of nothing.

And the FF games are the quintessential representatives of this fucked up genre. So excuse me if I'm not quite feeling your love towards them and therefore I'd pick Deus Ex Human Revolution over FF XIII ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. And I see by the vote poles that most people agree with me. Or maybe just a lot of fans of the series think that FF XIII sucks balls. Regardless, Deus Ex: Human Revolution ALL THE WAY, BABY!!!!

JRPG is not a genre and not all JRPGs are like what you described.

Yes it is, a sub-genre to be exact. Hell knows there are enough of these bloody things out there for 3 generations of anime obsessed emo tweens. Also, not all, just about 70% of them. And the remaining 30% have at least SOME of the elements I've described. And the shitty, boring turn-based combat game-play is INVARIABLY one of them, giving these games absolutely 0% chances of ever being enjoyable, even if, by some cosmic accident, they do have some half decent writing and storytelling.

Well, if you want to be stupid, you can call it what you want:category niche, group, shared characteristics...whatever. The point is they're all the same: boring, badly written, pathetic and stupid. Meaning they all suck.

I'd suggest ff over deus ex only if it's ff7. All other ff games, while interesting, cant compete with deus ex.

The difference for me is night and day between those two games, but ultimately it comes down to what you're personally interested in.
