So, its pretty much the topic. I am interested in making an amateur Point & Click Adventure with a free engine like AGS or Wintermute. Thing is, I would call myself a writer, but I am pretty new to Photoshop. Creating sprites and backgrounds, writing a story, putting it all together is much work for only one person.

The game itself could be based on some short stories I am recently working on. But we could also pool our ideas and work on a new project. The style should be inspired by the classic Sierra or Lucas Arts adventures, which were just great. Pixel graphics, animations, pretty much the style of "The Dig". I hope the name rings a bell. :)

As said, it should be an amateur game. I am not looking for people I must pay to make this project for me. Its all based on free and spare time. I am 29 and trying to become a writer. I am from germany, so I write in german but I would like to make this thing in english/american english. I did not know where to look for people who might be interested in a project like this, so thats why I ask on this board.

If you would be interested or if you know where I could ask around, just toss me some ideas here. Who knows, may be it could also be placed on greenlight one day. :)

What type of backgrounds? Something like this? Or does it have to be something drawn or whatever? (Edited image with stolen google images footage :V)

A 10 and not even out yet? Damn at this rate I don't even need to pay IGN to rate the game! :V

Its not supposed to be a desktop wallpaper or background. Everything has to be selfmade, due to copyrights. So what I basically mean is the background layer where the character walks and interacts. Like a basic adventure game has. They do not have to be drawn by hand but it must be possible to use them in the engine.

Not to be a bubble burster, but a lot of people "have ideas" for stories/games. Whoever will be in charge of art, music, coding and so on will be doing 95% of the work.

After all, writing also requires work. If everybody works on his tasks, it should be split pretty fairly. Writing a simple story and developing characters consumes the same amount of work as creating graphics or making background music.

To say it in other words: Everybody can write text about his gerbil and everybody can make a simple drawing of one in paint. If it has to be better than that, the amount of work will be greater, of course.

Also, I am not looking for someone to do all the work for me while I keep dreaming of cool ideas. It should be a nice project of people who are interested in the same things. Everybody will contribute, not just one.

You might also want to look in to doing a visual novel. I suspect the technical requirements are less intensive if also using a VN maker/engine than adventure game style.

Thanks for the hint. I really appreciate any direction I can get.

Yeah definitely look into http://www.renpy.org/ or something because the chances you'll find someone that would work for free is pretty slim. Visual novels are the easiest type of games a writer can make solo.

I'm a graphic designer with some spare time. I have never done pixel art before but I'm pretty good using Photoshop and I can draw. My gaming roots are point'n'click adventure games, I still enjoy them very much though I think they have become less interesting. Maybe I outgrew them or maybe they were really better back then - I can't tell. Always wanted to work on something like this. Also I'm German ;)

Popocho mentioned Spanish localization above. If you are thinking about more than one language localization (if any) then feel free to hit me up. I speak another language fluent aswell but I would rather not state which one on here.

I will so add you and include you on this project. And I thank you for the offer! Really. I appreciate any help. Any. No matter what you offer. Every contribution has its value. :)

You know, I love how people have a weird mindset about the stuff one wants to do. "Writing is only 5% of the work". Thats just insane. Everybody contributes to the project. That is my plan. Everybody does what he wants to do and what he can do. People that offer something are the ones I look for. People that are willing to contribute are what I look for. Because every contribution is worth its value.

If anybody tells me writing is just 5% of the work, they are false. Everybody on the internet thinks he or she knows everything. That mindset is false, simply false. Joe Rogan was told that all he does is "talking". Thinking, working on the set up, thats more than talking. Writing a story is more than putting words together. I don't care for what people think. I want to start a project, made by people that have the same interest. And that is adventure games. If you contribute one sprite: Thank you! If you contribute one sound effect: Thank you! Every contribution has its value. And if people think that having an idea and writing a deep story is worth shit, well ... then these people will never reach any higher progress. Every band started somewhere. Every great, awesome invention started with an idea that sounded stupid at first. I am not looking for slaves. I am looking for people who are willing to contribute something.

Don't get me wrong here. I am not planning on becoming an aweseome studio manager. But every great thing started with a little, stupid idea. And if you cannot contribute, don't reply. I don't need trolls. I don't need people who will diminish the value of any project. The world is full of negative thinking. I can get this anywhere. I want people who are interested in what I am interested. I want people who are willing to share ideas and who are willing to pool these ideas.

And of course, I thank everybody who gave me a hint or directed me in a useful way. Thank you. You are great people.
