I was thinking about leveling up my steam lvl, is it worth it? Im currently lvl 10. Also using "free" (GLEAM) game cards to craft badges worth the same as the one without

all badges have the same value, every craft gets you 100xp.. (please note that every 10 levels gaining a lvl takes another 100xp
so from 10 tot 20 its takes 200xp per lvl, from 20 to 30 it takes 300xp per lvl, and so on

is it worth it? thats totally up to you. it gives a small boost in boosterpack drops, but with the higher levels around and the ratings, thats almost no extra's so i wouldnt use that as a reason. its mostly show.

i for one like to go to certain levels (last goal was 100, now iam 101 one so need to find a new goal some day..)
and just craft badges that i can or are cheap OR for games a really liked :D)

in a nut shell, its for show only do it if you like it..

yeah thought I would go up a few lvls for more drops but with people with crazy lvls don't seem to get as much drops as I thought I would, I guess I might get to lvl 30 before selling them idk if steam keeps on growing (& this card thing stays) might be best to hang on to them a bit longer though

If you are wondering if making badges is profitable, for Valve yes but for you no. :)

A person with a higher Steam level gets better chances for a free booster pack, but it doesn't make up for all the money they spent getting to that higher level. :)

The showcase stuff you can add to your Steam profile every 10 levels might be worth it to you, but that's up to you. Maybe I'm just not creative enough, but I couldn't think of anything interesting to do with them. :)

Hard to say what's worth it and what's not. We all put different value on different things, have different attitudes towards money and different amounts of money.

If you feel you don't have much money and you really struggle to buy games, or if you just have an attitude of being very careful with every penny then I'd say it might be more wise to sell all cards and not care about levels.

If you're ok for money, or you don't mind losing out on a few cents here and there on frivolous silliness in the name of fun then craft a few.

Thinking of selling all mine in the future as I have quite a lot. The lure of being able to buy some nice real-world stuff if I can cashout is tempting. Looking at maybe getting a new motherboard and cpu.

The main idea is to get rid of cards with value 0,02 - 0,04 € and get Event cards to sell

That's what people mostly do. Though if you decide to obtain extra cards for badge crafting from the Market, keep in mind that you will have the event card that you receive from that particular crafting being hold into a one week trade restriction.

wich is actually a dump rule, summersale badges and items shouldnt be hold for a week if the events doesnt last for a week imo

summer sale is always longer than a week

Still, it's always better to sell them early. Their prices drop really fast.

yeah, but crafted in the last week will have trade hold.. so you cant sell them anymore..

Totally agree. Last sale I also had some cards I couldn't sell during the sale. But I think you were still able to craft those badges (and thus sell the cards) one week after it ended (not sure anymore though).

It's an epeen thing. If you are high level people never forget you or accuse you of cheating.
I'm happy with mine. But only do it if you got no.games you want.

As pointed by others, it's not worth it if you're only thinking of profiting from them. If you don't have problems with money though, you may craft any badges of games you enjoy or badges with designs you like. Keep in mind that if you do decide to craft badges, but do so only when Steam cards of an upcoming sale have been added into circulation. You're able to sell copies of them for quite a high price before the sale starts. It's more beneficial than useless discount coupons that you normally receive when crafting badges.

Just to let you know, every 10 levels will increase your chance to receive a random booster pack.

If you will not sell your cards, it is not worth for use your money to level up to high level.

It's not worth it. It basically works like this:

  • Sell cards > Buy games > Have fun!
  • Craft Cards > Level up > Grow your e-peen??

I used to keep a detailed record of my booster drops and you really notice a difference around lvl 40-50, beyond that though it doesn't increase much.

Not really, just sell the cards and get games, that's what I do

if its worth it or not is in the eyes of the beholder , its a fact that higher level users get more often free booster packs with 3 cards but on the other hand the money you spend leveling and it gradually gets a lot for each level you wont make it back. Depends what you like myself i like leveling my steam account and getting emotes and backrounds some i keep some i sell and i go for cheap badges to complete a badge i wont pay more than 40 cents otherwise i sell the cards

the whole "you spend more on level as you recieve in boosters" only makes sense if the leveling doesn't stop. why shouldn't i get payed back if i stop at level 100? isn't it more like i pay the badges, level to lets say 100, stop there, wait till i got enough boosters so they fit my costs and from there on i definetly make more money from steam level than a level 10 person?

You are correct you any level you stop and never craft again or buy a card would give you your money back but how long that would take. Take in considaration that me bying a game and selling cards i dont count towards getting my money back cause i just spend more than i would make except maybe some bundles that the cards would give you more than bying the bundle alone but thats rare so it would take a lot of time just by getting lucky with booster packs to make your money back to make the money back quick maybe you need to pray for foils and then that someone would buy them
