I'm making a playlist on Spotify of "alternative" Christmas songs. By that I mean songs that have a wintery or Christmassy feel but that aren't the famous ones (think Mariah Carey, Wham!, the Rat Pack). I'm hoping you can suggest some more for me.

Some examples of what is already on the list include:

Tom Waits - Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis

Low - Just Like Christmas

Smith & Burrows - When The Thames Froze

I'll give anything a listen, doesn't matter how old/cheesy/weird it is. Thanks in advance for the suggestions, I'm hoping to discover some great new tracks.

EDIT 1: Thanks for all the responses so far. I will reply to everyone but I want to make sure to listen to your suggestions first ;)

EDIT 2: The list so far, for anyone who's interested, is here. I still have to go through all the links again to see which I missed - everything only got one listen because there were so many. Unfortunately a lot of suggestions weren't on Spotify - I really should have made it a Youtube playlist instead >_>

EDIT 3: Small giveaway to say thanks for all the suggestions!
(Lv1 because I believe everyone can contribute even a bundle game).

Woah, you're a fellow Trekker and a fellow Tom Waits and Low fan? I salute your taste:P

Picard-Make it Sn o w

Crusader Kings 2 & Europa Universalis 4 - Songs of Yuletide
"Storm the winter shores of England
Fa la la la la, la la la lan.
Loot and pillage with your warband
Fa la la la la, la la la lan. " and so on!

There's always room for Picard. Here's another nerdy fact about me - at my wedding I got a string trio to play the Next Generation theme song as my wife and I walked back down the aisle because she loves it so much. That may have been the pinnacle of geekdom in our lives!

Love the second suggestion. I'm gonna relisten later when I have headphones so I can hear the words properly. The speakers at work aren't the best. Thanks!

I like this - Twisted Sister - Heavy Metal Christmas
Also I don't know if it's "Christmas" song but Baby It's Cold Outside, tho there are so many great versions it's hard to pick one (for example Norah Jones version is great too).

I'm quite liking the Twisted Sister Christmas stuff. Didn't even know it existed until today.

I'm partial to the Tom Jones & Cerys Matthews version of Baby, It's Cold Outside. I think because I was a Catatonia fan back in the day.

Some cool songs there. One of my former colleagues moved to Denmark a few years ago (she married a Danish guy) so I might send some of the Danish ones to her to freak her out :)

Jona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry - actually not a christmas but an anti-war song. It's often played during this time of the year though since it sounds like a christmas songs and mentions christmas in it's lyrics

Have you ever read The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ? It's an interesting take on how the fundamental message of Jesus was hijacked by those looking for power.
