Dwarfs!? now F2P

Well, from what I understand the bought version has additional game modes. It is also still possible to buy the "full" version as well.

That's how F2Ps work. They present the base game as free, however to get the most out of it you will still have to spend money.

It's however not a trend for single-player games. The vast majority of Free2Play games are multiplayer.

They do it because it works. Look at LOTRO, at TF2. It's a lot easier to get people to pay 99 cents for a DLC than it is to get them to pay $9.99 for a game they've never actually played.

That's not the reason why F2P is becoming more successful. You get it out to a wider market which will attract people that won't mind throwing their wallet around.

I felt the same way when I won Dota 2 and a few days later they announced it was going to be F2P... although they have delayed it for a very long time, so it was very much worth it.

Game doesn't need multiplayer for it to become a F2P. So to answer your question - no, it's single player.

No multiplayer yet. but its still coming, was not cancelled or anything.
