Some times I don't get how powerful or random stealing can be.
The same person robbed me twice in very short notice. Once from 200 coins to 120. And now from 130 to 80. ffs... All my steals so far were in the range of 1 to 6 coins (well still lvl1 so that's probably somewhat logical)... :O

@Server any idea why my profile page says :
Treasure Games won: 2
As far as I remember I won 1 treasure the last time. :O
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmmmm. I see these two :
Treasure Games won: 2
Overall wins: 2
Since you already have the overall wins one, isn't the treasure games won supposed to be for "the number of GAs we won" in total in these games of swords series? Maybe I misread your intentions..

Great game, thank you for your work.
I have some questions: Accuracy can be up to 15, but does it make sense to have it more than 10?
Starting hit chance: 50% + 10*5% = 100% or have I missed something?
Also about "Critical Hit = (Agility+Accuracy)/2", what it will be with Agility = 15 and Accuracy =10? (15 + 10) / 2 = 12.5%?

I'll runs 3 time. Picked thief, it was more than 30 hours ago. Already was be disoriented 3 times (1 takes 11 moves), i'm still 1 level. This is really hard for start. My first run i take negative or neutral effects close to zero on check, maybe near 10 from 300+ checks. Third run already 3 negative and lot of empty checks from 41 in total.
Is the game++ gets more harder?
Comment has been collapsed.
Haha, I just nabbed the final Barbarian spot! Now to sift through my treasure! Great game I can't wait for the next one!

Uhm.
I just killed a goblin, then it got one more attack on me, and I got no kill-gains from it.
You may wanna look into that :'(
(Also, you betrayed my trust on not having non-intrusive, non-problematic ads, so ad-block is staying on from now on. :|
And the whole quick-to-log-out/forced-delay-loads on relog/snowflake intro is a needless waste of our time as well -.-)
Comment has been collapsed.
How are ads intrusive? For your information, I removed almost all banners from the website and left just 1 small one on the "no energy" / "death" screen. It's your choice to leave the adblock on, that way you just show your disrespect to my work, which I do volunteerly, spending money and lots of my free time for your entertainment, providing a game that not only doesn't require you to pay anything to play it, but also rewards you for playing it.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are ads in the game? I don't see any with Firefox and NoScript isn't blocking anything for your site.
Comment has been collapsed.
I only saw 1 ad. It is on the left side of the page and only shows up if you die or run out of energy. It goes away when you have enough HP or energy to play again.
Comment has been collapsed.
The ads don't work in Firefox despite all my attempts. They do work in IE, but only if the window size is wide enough, otherwise the element doesn't appear. I don't see AdSense ads on SG either with the newest version of Firefox and NoScript, so it might just be a bug with one of those, instead of your game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hey, thanks for the attempts, I appreciate it! :) The banner hides itself on small screen/window widths not to interfere with the elements of the Game.
Don't worry about not seeing the ads in your favorite browser, play in any browser you wish and enjoy the adventure! :)

This is "sooooo" funny. I'm playing a thief and I'm with a mage weapon for 90% of the game till now. I only found a rat's beginner ranged weapon up to lvl 5 (!!!!), and after that only mage weapons for the entire time, and a few melee. :P I don't complain thief is amazing even as a mage. xD With maxed accuracy and agility the weapon doesn't even matter. Killed so many orcs/liches/lizardmen with no ranged weapon. Now got magic up to 6 (lvl6) so time for scrolls too, and finally found a silver bow (around 100dps). But behold in the next check I got an energy vampire's staff!! :O :O Makes the silver bow useless. xD Will continue as a mage. :P Didn't expect to be playing two times as a mage. xD
Comment has been collapsed.
Also, I found a small bug @Server. It's related to a specific item. Giant's rat skin that grants 2 poison resistance. If while wearing it, I do a check and get the spider crawl option that poisons me, the poison resistance becomes bugged for the next 3-4 steps. Specifically instead of stating 5(+2) on poison resistance, it temporarily becomes 7(+2), effectively granting the resistance in both permanent AND in temporary bonus in the stat. It only lasts for some steps though. :O
EDIT: Also dropped staff of delusion now. Will not get it however. I prefer energy replenish from staff for the time being at least..

I just wanted to say I had a ton of fun playing this. I don't have much other than a few bundle games but would be willing to donate them to the next game. I joined the steam group, will there be information posted before the next game?
Also a few ideas I had while playing:
Maybe implement a restart/quit game option somewhere if possible. Say someone starts the game as a thief. They progress a short ways in and then a bunch of other thieves win filling the thief grand win spots. If they want to win they are now forced into playing through almost all of the game as a thief just to start over and play through it a second time as a character that has a chance of winning the end prize.
Being able to sell items to shops would be nice as well.
Larger text would be nice.
Maybe have the possibility of finding a pet/follower that is treated similar to a artifact. Only one pet is allowed at a time and each would have different abilities/buffs. Maybe they have a chance to attack or block attacks during battle or one could possibly protect your corpse from looters. Lots of possibilities there.
Once again, I had a ton of fun and can't wait to do it again.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like the pet guarding you idea. It could have a chance (%) of not geting looted/drained depending on a pet you have and you can only have 1 pet at a time. So would be useful when you idle. For example a dog that would not allow for HP drainage, some kind of fairy/spirit that would stop EP drainage and, say, a squirrel against thieves ;)

I'm hanging around the dragon for the last half an hour killing random monsters. My theory was correct. The more I stay and kill monsters, the more my score becomes. :O I assume the only cap to this , is the cap to xp? Anyone who found the XP cap ?
In any case having fun with late game monsters such as minotaurs, phoenixes (actually resistant to scrolls/vials (!!) ), chimeras, giant spiders and stone golem (15k hp !!) They still all die with one single fireball/explosive vial though (well the golem also needed one hit). Isn't the golem supposed to be resistant in that? Golems according to lore, absorb elements and spells. :P I guess not here but just saying. xD And in case you are wondering the thief is still a "mage", this time with The Staff of the All-seeing-eye, (1200 whopping magic dmg lol-woot, well and 3 accuracy). Thief is actually a better mage than my previous mage ever was. :O
EDIT: Lol we didn't really need such powerful items, just found hammer of fate too with 1800dmg didn't know you had so many op weapons in this.
@Server By the way I got at least 1000+++ score by just staying and killing monsters in last area before dragon as a lvl10 character. I'm too bored to do it forever though, cause its a time-waster. It proves that one can reach infinite score though indeed. :O
Comment has been collapsed.
After some boring walks around the dragon area I finally killed him. By the way he was much harder this time. (also immune to fire scrolls/vials! :O nice):
You are a Sly Thief
You have 2723/3855 HP
You have 0/43 Energy
You have got the Dragon's treasures and are now known as Radagast the Brown the Dragon Slayer!
The Game has been completed by 81 other adventurers already.
747 other adventurers are still looking for treasures.
You had to make 706 steps and
327 checks to win this Game.
You defeated 122 enemies.
You died 4 times.
Thanks for playing!
All in all as a thief, I could play the game non-stop after lvl2. Literally. I never remember having to wait for energy to replenish...
Comment has been collapsed.
It was my 2nd run so had none of those. And I literally did it all in one burst, after getting to lvl2. xD I did know the game already though, and the map. Still it's something. Of course the vampire's energy staff helped immensely, but still it's the only class with so much spare energy. Early accuracy also helps in finishing the game faster.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know about luck, but you start with no extra stats or any items on 2nd/3rd playthroughs. Naked. :P
And the skills/resistance you mention, I think were only for a few select contributors on some specific starting items. Most of us never got them anyway. Still the thief is the easiest class to play by far due to energy abiities but also being a huge beast in combat with early acc/agi stats that can be raised very fast.. Items can do little to change that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can add to that, still no starting gear at 4th playtrough. :P
Going to make a high strength barbarian. The last one wasn't such a typical barbarian.
edit: but a lot of spiders, 3 times poisoned in 6 checks. :(

It's me but I never got that crown m8. What you see is probably my "total contribution lvl" from both latest game of swords (4+4 or something). xD hehe. That item is broken btw. Very few got it. I did get however a low lvl artifact both of the times (in the different game of swords these months) as a contributor on my first runs like all.

At least 1 weapon for each class. the best I've found are
Comment has been collapsed.
Very nice staff, never found it. :P I got the hammer and also a better ranged weapon at least in terms of damage by the end after some farming: Doom Bringer (ranged): 1285 ATT, 200 MAG, 200 FIRE
Also a mage weapon with around 1500dmg but skipped it, since I preferred the +3 accuracy one.
However like I said even as a thief I was using mage weapons for 90% of the game. :O
PS: Also XP capped at 65535. :( Though I think I kept getting score even after that
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah it did nice dmg on the dragon, over 4000 with each hit.
I used mage weapon for around 70% of the time as thief, was stuck at around 80 for all 3 types for a while.
And in the end the best ranged I had found was a little under 500, while melee and magic was around 800.
Now that I think about it, I think I did find a ranged weapon as mage for 1495, but didn't write it down. Might be Death's kiss since that's the one I ended with.
edit: I reached that exp cap with mage then. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Most good thieves play as mages then, after all. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Thnx. xD But I did prolong it way too much and got over 1k score just for that by just killing and walking. It was boring to keep doing it forever though. Killed too many chimeras/stone golems/phoenixes. Though I did miss my beloved vampire's cowl which I did not find this time. xD
And another thing @Server: I don't know what you did with the Bandit's chances of critical hits, but I remember dying to both of them while trying to escape with huge agility, because I was simply underequipped to handle them. Actually no weapon good enough to kill them. xD They always stabbed you critical on retreat. :O very nice. Awesome assassination.
Comment has been collapsed.
Are you serious about those weapon stats?
Someone else mentioned they were unlucky with weapons and only had about 800 damage... After reaching the dragon with Melee at 624 damage, Ranged at 479 and Magic at 466 I was sure they were joking...
Also, the dragon was immune to fire throughout the entire fight :(
Comment has been collapsed.
If you prolong your staying on lvl 10 without killing the dragon you can pretty much get everything from the most powerful monsters and on checks while lvl10. It's boring though. :P The above weapons you see were found from farming quite a bit... Not naturally... You can perfectly finish the game with weapons half of this power. The dragon was probably upgraded after the first run. ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it was towards the end of level 9 I got a melee weapon with 1795 attack value. When I hit level 10, I went straight for the dragon and ran away from almost every fight because I couldn't gain any more skill points and didn't want to waist the time or energy fighting, so I'm not sure if there would of been any better weapons on level 10.
Also, my magic weapon at the end only had 162, but I kept if for it's other ability since I was a barbarian and didn't use magic much.
Comment has been collapsed.
You've got hammer's fate, the best melee legendary weapon on lvl 9. :O That's pure amazing luck. :) Usually to find such great stuff requires quite a bit of farming as a lvl 10. But I guess anything can happen with a bit of luck. On my first playthrough I never found a weapon with more than 700-800dmg, though I did not farm and killed the dragon while lvl9, as fast as I could. I did however find vampire's cowl (15% life steal) which was actually more powerful than any weapon in the game in practice. Made you literally immortal. It proves you don't even need legendary stuff to succeed. There's so many ways to win. xD
Comment has been collapsed.
I wasn't too worried about HP. I finished with 42 extra HP potions and when I got to the dragon I had 11,823 HP because I attacked another player right before and I must of got a lot. I was more worried about energy, but I got some really good artifacts and weapons about 3/4 of the way through the game that helped a lot with that. I had a magic weapon that I never used, but it gave me 2 energy for every 5 steps I took and 2 artifacts that each gave 1 for every 5 steps, so I was getting back 4 of 5 energy or 80%. I found that very valuable for the barbarian, especially with the running around towards the end. I got really lucky with a lot of stuff in the game.
Also, I didn't farm enemies, but I did check literally every spot possible in the game to check other than a couple at the very end because I wanted to finish before all the barbarian slots were full.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes HP is indeed in abundance in the game. Especially as a barbarian since you can also leech HP from players. The life steal item however is even better than it sounds. It actually lets you kill everything with 0 energy in the game without worrying at all, so you can actually reserve all your energy potions "just" for "moving/checking". In practice it saves loads and loads of energy. And keep in mind that not all players are as lucky as you, to find energy per step regeneration items. I only found one of these on my 2nd playthrough. None on the first. xD

Hahhaha I just stole coins from @Server! :P:P So fun. xD

Help! Do I keep my Heavy Sword with 53 Attack or take this Fire Sword with 20 Attack + 70 Fire? (I am a Barbarian.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sure you decided by now, but it's really up to you. I would personally keep the heavy sword, but I didn't put any skill points into "fire mastery" until late in the game and I had a lot in strength. If you have a lot of skill points in fire mastery, it might be better. It depends on your stats and also the enemies that you will run into.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for replying but I had already decided on the Fire Sword. I figured it was worth the risk to do double damage most of the time and just switch to another weapon if I encountered a fire creature, which I haven't yet. That and I seem to find better weapons after every 5 enemies or so. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I was going to say that in my response that it's not that big of a deal because you find better weapons all the time. I put a lot of thought into each weapon choice and then 5 or 10 minutes later I found a better one anyway. The real thought comes in when you start finding weaker weapons that have added bonuses like skill/ resistance points or sometimes better stuff.
I was a barbarian as well and I didn't use magic much. I found a magic weapon that was only about 1/4 as powerful as my current one, but it had another benefit that I really liked, so I took that and never used it to fight. I just relied on my melee and ranged for the rest of the game.

Just got disoriented 3 times in quick succession (within 2 moves of the prior disorientation wearing off). Such randomness!
EDIT: Is there an item to remove the Disorientation effect, like there is for Poison, Bleeding, and Blindness?
Comment has been collapsed.
No. It lasts for 11 moves/checks and you must wait. Each resistance point you add lowers the duration by 1 move/check. You can either put resistance points in it when you level up or you can find certain artifacts that will add resistance points.
Comment has been collapsed.
SErVER51 posted a hint a week ago about disorientation that helped me out a lot. It's in the spoiler text below if you want to read it.
"You are moving, but never in the direction that you want to go. Use this information to your advantage :)"

Thanks for the information and the hint, which I found very helpful as well.

The idea of interacting with others during the game was spectacular. I had good fun even by begin robbed of energy / some coins. :D Congratulations to everyone involved, it was truly worth playing!

My Barbarian's Bloodthirst has killed quite a few other players already; I kind of feel bad about that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I felt kind of bad about one because I killed him about 6 minutes after the respawn time. If he was playing or wanted to play and didn't have a way to come back to life, that would mean I just took him out of the game for 6 hours. It felt kind of bad, but at the same time I really enjoyed it and it made me feel powerful, lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think it's 4 hours now though. Not 6 since it was changed. So it's not "that" big of a deal. Though I guess it would be a bit frustrating for those killed like this.

Currently stuck on the Brother's quest. I can't seem to remember where the Green Lever is lol.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yup all are there. Also something else I've noticed: on each playthrough the correct lever order is random, it changes each time. :O nice.
Comment has been collapsed.
In the previous one the number code was also different each time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Didn't know that cause I had only played once that game. ^^ Makes sense though. Otherwise we would do it in our 2nd run without even getting to the place that gives you the code.
Comment has been collapsed.
Didn't know about that since during the previous 2 rounds, I died from checking things near the start of the game xD. But it's good to know that this game has good replay value.
Comment has been collapsed.
Still can't find it xD. I can only notice 2 dead ends, which are the locations of red and blue lever. Is the green one located on the bottom part of the map?
Comment has been collapsed.
I've realized I haven't done a certain Orc quest yet. So that's why there were only 2 dead ends lol. Thanks for your help!

Ooh, I finished the game as 8th place in the hall of fame :D I'm happy. This was another amazing Game of Swords :)

Yay I finished it (as #92). It was a really great experience that had me hooked over days. Unfortunately I couldn't invest as much time as I wanted to. But it's a really great game! Thanks for doing this. I'm a bit annoyed by myself that I didn't check this thread earlier. I'll be watching out for your threads in the future and would like to contribute for the following round if possible =)

I can imagine it takes some time to put something together that big and then coding it all.
But I'm a member of that group now and I hope I notice when the next installment starts. Maybe you can start a discussion instead of an announcement, since I tend to miss those (way too many groups and not so often on my PC online). Since one can subscribe to forums and single discussions this would help me (and maybe others) to be noticed in time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yup, it does take lots of time. I actually plan to have a break now from coding (quite tired currently after this event :p ), don't know how soon I will start making the next Game, probably in 1-2 weeks. I'll think about your suggestion! Announcements pop up for users who are online so that they notice them instantly, and probably not many people are subscribed to the forum. Maybe I will make forum discussions for some big news.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah I can imagine about the exhaustion =) Though 1-2 weeks doesn't seem like a really long pause (I would have thought something in months...)
You can always just copy-paste the announcement (for big news) into a discussion or even have an administrative forum where only you can post and make people aware of it so they can subscribe to it. - It definitely shouldn't be too much work though. Anyway, I'm subscribed to the forum, and whatever pops up there, I will notice =)
Comment has been collapsed.
A couple of weeks should be enough to "gain enough energy" :) (I could use some Energy potions! :p)
It would take too much time to get back to coding after long break (a month or more), since I would need to read through the whole code again to recollect how it all works, and things would progress very slowly.
After a week or two the code will still be fresh in my memory and I will get back to coding easily :)
Administrative forum is a good idea, thank you!
Comment has been collapsed.
Also don't forget to "leech some energy" from other people too (positive vibes from positive people out there), it really helps when you need a break. And you honestly deserve it. :) ^^

Important notes about the Game
In the Game, you will have Energy Points and Health Points.
Most of the actions in the Game require Energy Points. Energy can be replenished using items, which you can find everywhere, thus it is important that you check everything around you!
Energy will also be replenished over time. Normally, you will receive 1 Energy Point every 15 minutes, and that time can be reduced with special artifacts that can be found in Game.
Note, that the Energy won't be replenishing during the battles (you can only restore it with potions)!
If you lose all your Health Points, you will also lose all the energy you had plus you will have to wait for up to 6 hours to be resurrected. (Basic Resurrection happens every 6 hours from the time the Game started - 16:00 GMT). The energy can not be replenished while you are dead!
Note: If you have problems navigating through the map, you can switch to Simplified Navigation at the bottom right corner.
I highly recommend to read this article for important Strategy Tips and general understanding of the Game :)
