Checking isthereanydeal, it just looks like they go on sale very erratically -- they were on sale several times in 2016, not at all in 2017, then on sale a few times in 2018, and not at all (yet) in 2019, other than the Winter Sale. I'd cross my fingers and wait for the Winter Sale.

50% is a steal and if the taxes and shipping are low then go for it!

hmm wanted to trace back if mine was a deal etc but seems I can't find the info atm so have a bump to get noticed :3 Maybe someone else can give better advice.
Hope it goes on sale in the winter again (christmas/gift period) or so so so you can get another one (or two :) )

Seems I confused the controller with the link deal :) found both back.
Link was a shipping included €11-12 deal.
Got the controller one 3 jul 2016 so not even sure it was a deal. Oh well.
Still got my toes crossed you can snatch a good deal soon!

You might even want to look out for local deals in electronics stores and such. I got one for 6€ in a city nearby some time ago.

uh, interested here.
little question for you: which was your previous controller?
just read MagnificentOne comment about a new version, and came here to say a kinda related thing.
just few hours ago, an ad here around "informed" me that Stadia is already accepting orders and that reddish controller i've seen is something i like... so, maybe something is moving under the hood.
that said, this also means we could get this Steam one for the very, very cheap... :P
edit: no more questions!

i'm still with a generic-Logitech, but really won't refuse a little little more. so that now i really have The question:
how does the Steam one "feels"? light? how's the "touch"? ... but, the fact you're searching for another one should tell something (still having my espresso, so... :P)
thanks, the GaffiMod

The wheel is unique and needs some getting used to instead of a stick. I'm very happy with mine for games that don't require using it but had to get a PS3 controller as well, because they are the best ones, for games that do. But I'm sure for other people it can work fine.if they aren't too lazy to spend couple mins learning. Steam is bigger and heavier so a better fit for my large hands.

Don't know about the Steam controller but I have been using Dualshock4 and it's amazing. Also steam supports Dualshock4 which is great the only downside of that is steam emulate DS4 as Xbox one so in most games you get Xbox prompts on your screen, but you can almost always find a work around (mods).

Yes, but also no.
It's by far the most configurable and compatible with the most PC games of any controller out there. You can easily play games that only support mouse/keyboard with it, you just need to get it setup right. Often there's community made profiles you can use, but if there isn't, it can take some tinkering.
That said, that is also it's biggest drawback. All the configuration software is tied into Steam itself, so it works great there... but if you want to play something like Windows Store games, Origin, etc. that's when you'll start to run into problems. There are solutions for these problems but they aren't exactly what I would call user-friendly. Again, more tinkering required. This is a theme with the Steam Controller, it's not quite as easy to use compared to others.
It's also got one major difference from other controllers and that's it's rumble. It's just not very good on the Steam Controller. Not only does it absolutely destroy your battery life if you use it but it doesn't feel particularly immersive either. Compared to something like an Xbox One controller, it's sadly really bad.
So, if you want a controller that has the most potential of all of them - one that allows you to play basically any PC game ever made - then the Steam controller is for you!
If you on the other hand value ease of use and products simply being plug'n'play, then I would recommend getting an Xbox One controller. As would I if rumble is a feature you value highly.

i am also a KB+MS player, yet i still have the several controllers mainly to play emulators and on android.
my preferred controller on PC is the Steam Controller, mainly because of the customization and the options the SC gives you, for example.
On a shooter you can pull the trigger and that would activate the gyro, then use the gyro to aim and use the dual stage trigger button to shoot, meaning that effectively you can do with just the trigger what other controllers require you to use two or three buttons and twist you hand in natural ways :p
perfect example is to drive and shot on GTA games, on a regular controller you would be driving with the left analog and the triggers, then you hold right shoulder then use the right analog stick to aim and then press A to shot. On the steam controller you can drive with the stick and triggers, then just push the trigger all the way to activate aiming use the right pad to aim and just click on it to shoot. just 2 buttos vs the 4 on a regular controller.

Bump and thanks for the giveaway. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the controller. Been waiting for a good deal for that as well :]

I have bought one, 2 years ago in the winter sale 33% on sale I think. I don't use it anymore. Not all games support the touch thing, for me it's easier using an Xbox controller supported by all games.
