To have it locked you would only need to pay $1. Then it "locks" the BTA price. So for right now the BTA is $5.51, and for you to unlock BTA you will only have to add the remaining 4.51 + 0.01 to beat it. You have all the time until 1 week after the bundle is over to make up your mind! :)
So it doesn't matter if the BTA will increase to $7 or whatever, since you already made your payment ($1), the BTA is final / locked!

That's how it works. It will display a warning if you don't add enough, just like it does before you purchase Tier 1.
(I bought it for $1 myself, this is what it looks like for me if I want to increase my amount:)

One trick when bumping up your amount in the future is to just put in $1 again as the amount to increase. HB will then come back and give you a link that you can click on for the right amount to increase by to get the next tier.

If you look at the picture above. You can put in $1 in the custom amount. It then show 2 links. The second one will be something like "Beat the Average - Add $xx.xx". You then click on that one and it will change your custom amount to the exact value it needs to be to get the BTA.

I only bought Tier 1 for the time being and will stay like this unless next week's games will justify the upgrade to BTA considering that I already have Warhammer and Jotun.
Anyone played Verdun? Is it worth the $9 increase from Tier 1?

BTA for me was locked at $5.46, half an hour ago. The difference with the current BTA isn't much. I haven't seen it go below 5.46.

All I have is Journey Down which I never cared for. Everything else looks great, so I'm in for BTA. Not into multiplayer games at all so Verdun isn't for me.

Had a tab at $5.51. Wanted the $1 option. Prompted me to login. It reset the price to the new BTA and locked me in. Oh well. It was only 20 cents higher. Its not like some weeks where it jumped a lot. I knew about the login issue too but had forgot.
Just letting others know you need to be logged in when pinning your low price tab.
I already have the first 2 from the monthly's. I'll see what they offer next week as addons. before buying the BTA.
I've only played a couple hours of Vermintide but it was fun even if all of us playing had no idea where we where going. So I'll likley buy it anyhow for a GA.

I also liked the Journey Down games (already had them)

Are you sure the game is really Jotun: Valhalla Edition, They only list it as "Jotun". How can we know for sure?
