Dafuq happened to EA? When did they became good guys? What's next? Dragon Age game that is actually good like Origins? One Battlefield title to last us more than a year, and is worth investing?

Especially useful for this reason:

"...or even just if the game doesn't play well with your video card—we’ve got your back."

Just hope it doesn't get abused.

I'm pretty sure EA is the only one who does this, too. I've bought countless games that apparently barely work on my computer. Checking Can I Run It doesn't help either, because some of the games I 'pass' (e.g. Skyrim) lag too much when I play them. Honestly, it's a nice change from EA, but I just hope that others will follow in their example.

Nope. Puppy Games does it, too. Though their guarantee isn't quite the same as EA's.
"GUARANTEE

If you've bought one of our games and either a bug or a hardware issue is causing problems, and we can't fix it, then we'll give you your money back."

And yes, it would be fantastic if other developers and publishers starting doing similar.

Yeah, it just represents the basic kindness that you could get at any real-life store.

Understandable! Their games don't get quite the same press as those from other indie devs. They're quite good, though! You should check out a demo sometime.

Yep. Would be great if all digital-based stores would do this. Doubt it'll happen in my lifetime, but one can hope. :)

For once, I have to sincerely congratulate EA for getting something right.

And with GFWL set to shut down, the future is looking bright.

If that was on Steam during the summer sale I'd surely refund my LA Noire. Crappy port won't get more than 8 fps on my pc, that's ridiculous....

Shots fired.

I adore watching the confusion from the morons who voted EA the worst company in America now trying to find a way to paint their latest actions in a bad light.

Remember when they said they would issue refunds for simcity and then when people flocked to support to get their refunds they were told they were not allowed and or would be banned which also removes access to their other games.

Yep, real classy gents and they really earned the community's trust just by promising that they are better now.

Also, the fact that they were voted because of their past actions and now say they are different, or maybe they are, doesnt suddenly erase what EA has done in terms of destroying loved franchises, worsting DRM requirements and milking DLC to the point of just insanity.

I don't give a fuck about their past actions. Anyone who seriously voted for EA versus the other companies in that poll was a fucking idiot.

The "worst company in america" thing was an INTERNET POLL. These are notoriously inaccurate and easily manipulated, and only taken as a serious gauge of opinion by those who don't understand the internet. Even though EA is clearly not the worst company in america, those votes did however show a clear sign of discontent in their customers (or would-be customers). That alone is something worth paying attention to. A video-games company with a trust-destroying approach to DRM/distribution/patching is obviously a far lesser evil compared to a company that through willing negligence causes incredible damage to marine-life, but like I said, it was an internet poll. There is a reason you can't do jury-duty via public HTML voting ;P

Also :
"I don't give a fuck about their past actions"
Then you obviously don't give a fuck about how validly people can cast a bad light on this latest action, kind of making your comment hollow.

This is a positive step that shows they're actually listening. I'm a big advocate of speaking, then speaking with your dollars if companies don't listen.

Pffft they've just solidified a policy that has been unofficial for ages. Remember how well they dealt with the Sim City launch issues? They freely issued refunds to anyone who wanted one!

(Seriously, when is the internet gonna get an official sarcasm tag?!?)

Haha what? He's saying he doesn't want to use both programs, and since he clearly has a Steam account that leaves you to conclude he doesn't want to setup an Origin account.

Also, what does this forum have to do with it? People are free to discuss Origin, Desura, Xbox, or really anything else. It's not like this is some kind of "Steam Only" forum.

Nice move. Nothing that will make me install Origin or even buy stuff from them, but still a nice move.
Now they have only 7 or 8 points to change from my "Why I hate EA"-list to make me their customer...

Why is it not special.. i havent seen anything like it from any other digital distribution and moreover if they keep the time more than 24 hours...they cant sell any single player games..cos the players will complete the game and then ask for refunds...

Unlimited Money : Purchase Humble Bundle games, activate them on Origin,
Refund 'em all => You win some money

Do this many times => UNLIMITED MONEY (Trolololol)

"the full refund is available only within the first 24 hours after a game is launched for the first time. EA will also offer refunds within seven days after a title was purchased (but not yet launched - preorders) or seven days after a game's release date. Whichever of those conditions applies first will determine a person's ability to receive a refund."

Its still junk imo

They said that "get refund" button will be placed next to ur order...so no chance of doing the unlimited thingy.

On topic: its a great start, something is better than nothing..this kind of option is long overdue.

Really shocked EA is doing that. Perhaps they really are taking the whole "Worst gaming company award" to heart and trying to change things for the better.

Of course, this is assuming they are being honest and do not do what they did with Simcity in the past.

EDIT This does make me wonder if someone could do a refund on the bundle games. Be kinda wrong in all truth.. but it does make me wonder if one could. Would be a little bit of a nightmare for EA if you could.

Yeah. Given EA is such a big (and experienced) business, the fact they're doing this without any apparent safeguards almost seems like they anticipate it will have to be removed. Like a deliberate, temporary measure to boost potential customers? I dunno. That's just the feeling I'm getting.

Then again, it would make sense not to reveal their anti-abuse methods, to prevent circumvention. Hell they might even be EXPECTING abusers to use the system like this, just so they can deny the refunds and get sales that they wouldn't have otherwise got. Crafty!~

Really? I just looked back to the first page and I'm not seeing it there either. So far all we know is the time limits on the returns, and that they will check for abuse. Nothing about how they're going to gauge that, though.
