The giveaway within 48 hours is needed cause otherwise anyone can join and take advantage without giving anything back. So it's just to check people are trustworthy. You can pick whatever game you want to giveaway, it's completely your choice. And yes as omicron said everyone gives one game to someone and receives one game from someone else. So if you can't afford to buy a game for another person then i'm afraid you can't join.

Just want to check: last year after the matches has been decided, everyone has to create a giveaway for their match, invite only, and send the link to their match. There will only be one entry obviously, so it's just a good way to ensure everyone is following the rules etc. Is that going to be the same this year?

But the initial giveaway can be any unbundled game, with a full price value of at least $10?
So Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition would be okay as an initial giveaway, but not as gift for our partner, for example?

The initial giveaway can be any unbundled game with a value of less than 10 USD, while the real gift for your match has to be 10 USD or more even if on a 99% discount. To give you an example: I chose Cities: Skylines as my initial giveaway. So yes, Shadowrun: Hong Kong - Extended Edition would be fine as your initial giveaway.

I'm pretty sure there are better ways to ensure trustworthiness than having an arbitrary rule of making a giveaway, because even then one can easily make a cheap non-bundled GA for their initial entry and still not deliver in the end. However, it's up to you all to organize this, and I wish you the best in the endeavor, though I'm not going to enter. :)

For the last 2 years I have run a secret santa event for the people of steamgifts. Everyone has loved the event every year and we've all had a great time getting into the christmas spirit together. This year i'm opening up the group again for another year of secret santa. People who were in the group last year have gotten priority as joining members but there is still plenty of spaces left for new people to join.
What is it?
So I saw reddits version of secret santa and thought it would be great if we did another version of this for steamgifts. So I created this steam group. This is a group made for people who enjoy gaming and can give awesome games to others who would enjoy them. This is made to enjoy the spirit of christmas and of sending gifts to each other.
How does it work?
Sometime during December everyone will be given another member of the group randomly that they are to send a game gift to. This will give plenty of time for the person to buy a game for their allocated person. The game will need to be delivered to the user on or within 5 days of christmas (25th december) or up to 5 days before christmas day. The gifter must create a private giveaway on steamgifts for the person to enter to ensure no exploitation.
