Greetings all.

I'm in the situation i just finished a giveaway, and it turns out the winner hasn't been online on steam for 8 days.

How long should i give the winner time to get online to accept my invite before requesting a new winner?

Read the FAQ.

"The submitter and winner(s) of the giveaway have seven (7) days to complete the gifting process. This includes the activation of the gift on the Steam account of the winner."

The giveaway doesn't become invalid or get deleted automatically.

Also, the winner doesn't have to come online on steam or accept your friend request - you can just send the game to their email address.

As has been said, you have 7 days to complete the giveaway. This goes both ways, as in the winner can report you for not sending it to him after a week. If you don't want to send him an email with the game, you could send an email telling him you'd prefer giving the game directly through Steam.

I think the point of some people not wanting to send an email is not to give out their email address..

It takes what, 2 minutes to make a throwaway?

Edit: Wait, does Steam even include your address with the gift message? I don't remember that.

reason i don't want to use the email, is that you can't be sure the person ends up getting the game. It might go into spam folder, i might type in the email wrong, they might have typed the email wrong, or they might pass the game on to someone else.

I prefer to verify people are legit, and therefore i will only give it away on steam.

If they don't activate it on their account at the end of the seven days, just send it back to your own e-mail if it's a Steam gift. If it's a key, things are a bit trickier. Either way, if they don't activate it on their own account and you lose it, you can report them, because trading or giving away wins is not allowed.

Copy the email address from your created giveaways list - no mistyping.
Don't want them to know your email address? Use https://www.guerrillamail.com/
If they still don't reply, request a reroll telling support that you have tried contacting them both through Steam and through email.

Edit: And yes, you can see the gifter's email address :)
