will not happen.
this has been suggested many times before and always declined.
cg mentioned in the past that he does not want game gifts or game keys stored on the server (the big dev giveaways being an exception).
And don't you like the social interaction, when adding someone on steam and handing over the key personally?
Or that warm tingly feeling when you send your key via mail and the winner actually takes the time to respond to you?

Certainly! I'm just thinking it would save time for some people. I love talking to people and giving them things personally, and I don't intend to stop doing that.
But the reasons stated already in this thread for it not happening... I can see, yeah.

The ill panda with the fancy hat is speaking the truth!
The small benefit of saving a few minutes of time doesn't weigh out all the downsides.
Having to store tons of keys on the servers is just asking for problems, it's just not safe, and even if it were, people would put up used keys and then go on to claim that the system is not secure and that someone stole the key before the winner got it.
You couldn't reroll the giveaway if you had too because the winner gets the key automatically.
And really, how much time would that really save? Most people time their giveaways so that they end when they actually have the time to send the Key/Gift, and even if they don't, we get 7 days to do that for a reason.

This doesn't happen so often, must of the winners don't even respond...

That's my point. If the key was stored on the site for the winner to see after winning (as is done with some developer giveaways), I wouldn't be able to ask for a reroll if it was needed. The way it works now is fine, as I can check up on the winner before sending them anything.

How about a steamgifts.com limited e-mail account system. Been thinking about how I would verify I had sent a key to someone if they refused to acknowledge it. Having an e-mail account the admins could check is the only way I could really think of since steam could probaly send gift e-mails to it as well?

I think it's every giver's responsibility to check on the legitimacy of their winners. Make sure all their wins are activated on their account, otherwise they're just winning games to trade/sell/re-gift. Also want to make sure they don't already own the game and haven't re-synced, or that they have the base game for a DLC.
If they got the key automatically, there couldn't be a re-roll. I've done 4 re-rolls on keys... 3 because the winners had violated the rules and hadn't been caught, and one because they had already won the game and forgot to remove entry/re-sync. I wouldn't have been able to do the re-rolls if they got the key automatically.

Just what the title says. I was just thinking about this and since we have SO MANY bundles and keys on here, I think this would be a great feature.
Feel free to discuss, maybe this isn't a good idea... what do I know? That's why I'm posting. ;)
Or am I just too dumb and it's already a feature??
