I thought it was gonna be about pineapples and pizzas(which go together wonderfully, I might add)

I'm probably of the same mind, as our family always had both. But the dogs have to be over, say, 40 pounds.

It really comes down to what your needs are. If you don't have a weapon on hand and only your trusty dog / cat, which one can you throw at your enemy to affect the greatest damage. Cat claw-action is best in that case, probably.

It depends on the opponent. An armored enemy would be more susceptible to a face full of slobber. It gets trickier when trying to weigh the freeform cuddleability and wrasslin' of dogs against the refined joy of purrs.
I suppose it is less a case of "Which is better?" but more whether you prefer warriors or rogues, pirates or ninjas. Should a third party enter the fray, dogs and cats may be better served creating an alliance. Neither cat nor dog would outstrip a badger in raw combat, nor a quokka in cuteness.
Wait, lemme get some figurines out, we're gonna need a battle-map and some notes...

Please, any self-respecting assassin knows where to aim to ensure those cat claws penetrate the chinks in the opponent's armor. Clearly, I am speaking with an unskilled amateur who can only club people to death. Consider this "discussion" closed. (Moron!)

lol...
I've had both as pets (along with lizards, snakes, turtles, fish, and plenty of other critters) and I genuinely like both. So, I'm not going to choose.
But, I will say that I don't trust cat haters. Their inability to respect another creature's individuality (and lack of need for constant affection) speaks to confidence issues, and I don't have time for that. [You get a hall pass if you're allergic 🙃👍🏻]

I only had dogs growing up but I like both, at least cats from pictures and videos because I was never able to have much experience with cats since I have crazy allergies. I can't be in a place for more than 20min in which I cat has walked by, so imagine around an actual cat.
I would have loved cats since the last decade that I live alone because they are less needy of attention. I love dogs but I would hate to leave it 8h+ alone in home while I'm at work. And when I'm at home I want some time for myself too. Subtract my time to sleep, the attention I would give to the dog would never be the attention it deserves. Dogs deserves 24/7 love.

As a personal pet:
Dog
You own a dog, a cat owns you

I like both and both like me. Which is unfortunate in the case of cats, when they decide to use you as a scratching post.
