Earlier this week, Trendy Entertainment announced that Dungeon Defenders 2—a follow-up to the co-op action tower defense original—will be free-to-play and feature a competitive MOBA mode. The new mode is already in closed beta, but the continuation of DunDef’s co-op won’t be playable until later this year. Even so, Trendy has released a pre-alpha co-op gameplay trailer—it’s bigger and prettier.

I've lost faith in Trendy since they delayed the PC release of DunDef by almost two years. I'm not surprised that they're going F2P, but I don't see them picking up too many customers outside of already hardcore DunDef players.

They had a perfectly good formula and decided to change it completely... I do not get why people do this with their franchises, it only upsets the existing fanbase.

I hope the co-op will be good. That's what I hoped to be able to test when I signed up for their project, and got a MOBA instead...

DD is boring to me. I bought it, played for a couple of hours and it was already boring. I tried to like it but it's still boring.

Lets just say that every F2P game that i know is getting some kind of paid DLC after a while (see Spiral Knights for example). and that MOBA competitive thing will upset A LOT of people.
