Title says most of it....
For those who have bought it and played, does it add some fun and cool stuff on top of an already great game?

Plus, its $3.24 for quite a bunch of content, so yay or nay?

hmmm, what do you mean? (lets take the lost eternia shards question out)
The game has changed that much since the last time i played it (prob around jan-feb 2012)?
Did a bunch of updates mess things up?

This is the complaint I've heard (I haven't played it much recently, either): it's impossible to do the maps necessary on the difficulties necessary to get the new top-level gear without already having the top-level gear, pretty much, so people feel stuck and unable to advance, or something like that, I believe. This is second-hand and possibly confused, so don't take it as gospel.

hrm, alright thanks wbarton. Makes sense to me. Since I haven't played in a while, I think I'll play it a little bit now. The offer is good until Thursday at 4pm anyways.

I heard that too. More like that it was just the 4th Lost Eternia dlc that made breaking into nightmare mode a lot more difficult.. And when I stopped playing, around jan-feb too (before the 4th shard was released), I already couldn't go anywhere near nightmare difficulty, not alone nor with the friends I was playing with. But after I bought the dlc pack in the summer sale and I restarted to play, even if with some difficulty, I have to say I'm now starting to break into it anyway, so it IS still possible, it just requires a little more grinding and luck with drops. :P
In my opinion, the things the dlcs add are so many and so good that they're worth to buy, no second thoughts.

Edit: Also, if on one hand the overall difficulty was raised quite a bit, on the other hand getting the Summoner and possibly even the Series EV characters helps A LOT in balancing that.

I'm glad I wasn't totally off the mark, then. Thanks for clarifying!

You're welcome :) Even my information though is second-hand, because as I said I never really had a chance to try nightmare before the 4th shard was released, so I have no idea if it was a lot easier.
The only thing I know for sure, is that they added new enemies with each shard, and that sometimes they were retroactively added on previously existing maps and challenges (only at higher difficulties/survival modes), so actually every shard released made the game harder than before, but I guess that the enemy added in the 4th one can be expecially troublesome in some circumstances! :P

If you have ENOUGH friends or teammates to help you then the maps really aren't that hard.

BUT, the only qualm I have with this game is that the player base is exceptionally rude combined with a ton of botted/hacked weapons. You will be kicked out of many games and you will see some people killing monsters in one hit and farming survival mode.

That being said, this problem is solved if you play with a lot of friends

gotcha, and unfortunately I don't have any friends/teammates to play with and have only played the game solo. Thanks for the help!

I wouldn't give Trendy Ent any more money ever. I don't want to reward DLC spammers.

I used to love Dungeon Defenders (most hours played out of my entire Steam library), but it drowned in DLC. I don't want to pay for power. DLC as a time shortcut (pay for things you can earn in the game) is one thing. DLC upgrade treadmill like they have now is quite another.

Yeah, I agree with the drowning us with DLC's. Thanks for the info =D

While I do agree that too many dlcs can't be a good thing at all, I have to say that with Dungeon Defenders I felt like they really improved the game a lot multiple times, and I couldn't get myself to dislike any of the things they implemented, so I ended up being satisfied with all of them.

No, but if you plan on playing alot it helps so much that it is a requirement for higher end players.

just buy the vanilla game now and if you arent bored already by 2 months then buy the rest of the DLC in the holiday sale.

ill just save my $$$$$ and buy orcs must die 2 which looks like it makes DD obsolete by now.
