NZ just as bad as SA then. When Steam switched to our local currency, some games were cheaper, but then the digital tax was added as well at 14%. It's very annoying that while you find something at a certain, more affordable price, it changes once the tax is added.
And this is not even the worst type of tax they've added over the past year...from next month we'll be charged a damn sugar tax "to assist citizens in a healthier lifestyle"...may ass.

You haven't also paid for the world war casualties, but I'm not complaining. So learn to help people from other countries. We (the Europeans) and the Americans are the ones that made these refugees seek a new home, because we've started the war, so we have to accept it. I don't mind paying taxes for the refugees. But I mind paying taxes for stupid greedy rich people that don't even pay their own taxes.

You mean that YOU paid for the casualties? Ok, if you paid, then it's ok. I was talking about the German government that refused to pay anything to Greece. And that was your problem? Devidra was saying that Germans should not pay for the refugees, but the problem was me because I answered the same way that Devidra commented? I didn't show any bigotry at all. I just answered rudely with a fact. Devidra showed bigotry by saying that Germans shouldn't help the refugees.

southamerica for the most part has more "important" things to focus on than taxing digital purchases, so even tough i get american prices i dont pay taxes :v
but some laws about online buying of physical goods have come into place recently making online buying and exporting of goods a lot harder, so who knows :(

Taxes are tiresome but imagine the alternative - fewer government services.
Here in Washington, we owe the state for any retail purchase we make. Local retailers are required to take the taxes from us and remit them on our behalf to the state and many major websites do the same. Even when we make a purchase from a site that does not charge us taxes, we owe them to the state and it becomes our responsibilty to send them in (though I know of nobody who regularly does this.)
There is no mechanism in place to track these uncollected taxes and it has led to the state, along with others, pushing the US congress to require online retailers to charge taxes to thier customers and further legislation. I received an email this week from Humble Bundle who said they will now be collecting tax along with the Humble Monthly Bundle, increasing the cost 10%.
Taxes suck but we use government services. The only way to reduce taxes is to reduce those services. Good luck.

Because of a bunch of local ****s that don't want to offer affordable services themselves, all foreign digital purchases will now be taxed 15% in New Zealand. This includes stuff like Netflix, ebooks and digital game purchases. Since even the fairly priced games are only 10 - 12% cheaper here, the moment Valve puts it up will leave New Zealand paying more than the majority of other regions.
If anyone wants to grab a game that is currently cheaper here, you might want to get on that soon. The law has already passed, it is just a matter of time. Netflix have already said they will give us the old prices for this month, but Valve I have no clue on.
