No Slovenia :'(
If nobody else wants it till the event starts I can take 45 - Venice. I am even gonna be there for the 9349843th time on Sunday (well the airport at least, but I have also been on the islands themselves).

I would rather leave the other ones for people who have actually been to those places :)

I can donate some GAs (or maybe a train, depending on what I have at the time)

I was mostly joking and wanted to use the Drawn Together clip but it seemed a bit weird considering Europe 1 & 2 seem to be split by location.
I was wondering myself. There are lots of stuff worth checking out (roughly 1/3 of our GDP comes from tourism) but I'm not exactly sure which one(s) are the most iconic / well-known around the world.
A few of the first things I could think of are:
I'm probably forgetting lots of iconic stuff and I haven't even touched natural monuments but there's just soo much to see. Maybe something music related would make sense too since classical music still draws in a lot of tourists, particularly from Asia.
On the other hand maybe it makes sense not adding Austria to the list since I'm not sure how many active austrian SteamGifters there are on the forums (and I'm not into puzzles / barely active lately). Just wanted to point it out ;)

Don't worry, it's hard to please everyone ;) Plus it's important to have a healthy mix of different types of landmarks.

I would love to but I can't. I had to drastically reduce my time on SteamGifts because it just wasn't healthy anymore.

This seems like an awesome idea, the events are always so creative and it's amazing to see people both working and participating in them. I've never been part of creating an event, so I wouldn't be able to make a super difficult puzzle. If me being a noob wouldn't be a problem, then I'd like to take part in this! I'd take any of these: 78 (British Museum), 196 (Hachikō), or 194 (Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park). Let me know! :)

We love puzzles of all kinds.... not super difficult especially...
This event will be more educational and an experience like touring the world together... there will be all kinds of different creative ideas that will be on this event.
I'll assign you those 3 you want but they aren't due until next year... you may like to also pick something from the first list above during Oct-Dec to get started... it's not required that you love there or have visited... just that you are interested in making that landmark come alive for us creatively...
Thanks for volunteering!

I can help out when stuff I know comes up. I'll try to remember to keep an eye out for USA, Australia and Japan

Let me get:
Grand Canyon, Monument Valley for USA
Tokyo Tower for Asia Part 2
12 Apostles, Ayers Rock, Shrine of Remembrance for Australia in the Oceania one
Also, Ayers Rock has a town much closer than Alice Springs. It's a resort town called Uluru

Hey Jeffhowe... I can not guarantee but it seems like I will be available to help out sometime starting Mid October. That is when my Cricket Playing season end here and I expect to get more time free from practices and games. If any spots are not filled by that time, I'll take it. I'll have to research any of the Europe landmarks on the net so my puzzles may be simple but whatever I can do to help.
Just trying the best I can. Thanks for all the work you are doing.

Welcome to the first event planning thread for the Steamgifts Famous World Landmarks-- EUROPE Part 1!
Many may remember me saying how nice it would be if we as a group "toured" the world together in a large-scale event! Well we have 250 landmarks around the world to visit together and it will take a year and a half to finish our travels together. I've divided the 250 landmarks into the main continent areas and planned out a schedule as follows:
Looking for volunteers to:
CREATE PUZZLES:
DONATE TRAINS or individual GAs:
The success of the event depends on all of us joining in on the creation of it and also everyone solving the creation and experiencing the result together! THANKS ahead of time for your part! Note: HERE is an example of a previous puzzle event I helped put on that had creative volunteers that proved to be a big success!
So ready to pick one or 2 or 3 landmarks and get to creating?? Reply to this thread the landmark(s) that you are interested in taking.
