Now that i've managed to finish Dust I'm looking for more platformer type games to play. You guys have any suggestions?

Prince of Persia (the first two), if you look for a real challenge

thats the one on really old macs that was one of the first to bother with mocap and actual realistic jump distances and if you get into a sword fight the random npc has just as much chance to kill you? I played an emulated version of it

Yeah I was talking about about these: PoP1 and PoP2. Just tried the download of the second game, but it is a horrible version, I still have both games in its original version (with no option to save the game) on another machine playable in DosBox.

Have you played Bit Trip Runner?

I've heard of it but never really knew what it was. Like, I got the character unlocked in SMB from it. But that's about it. Is it a decent game?

Well, It is for me. It's very challenging and fun, and as addictive as cigarettes xD

its one of those things where you can memorize the level, and if you miss anything you have to run through the entire thing from the start no checkpoints. you're moving at a constant rate and must either jump over, slide under or kick through obstacles.

So its down to personal preference. I liked it mostly(at times it was frustrating and repetitive), others won't

Dust...thats the one that plays kinda like Metroid? Grab the HumbleBundle, it has Capsized which is similar.

The dust i'm talking about was Dust: An Elysian Tail. It's like an artsy action platformer game. I've got the humble bundle already too :D

Yeah it apparently resembles Metroid in some ways, CaveStory also does this among a few others that I cant seem to recall.,.

You should check out Rayman Origins, it's really neat. :)

On a side note, I can't wait to play Dust. xP

I haven't played Rayman Origins yet (;_;), but it seems like it would be really good for someone who likes Dust since the visual style and setting seem pretty similar

Element4l.

Seriously, this game is underrated. It deserves more love.

Does Element4l have controller support? I tried finding that bit of information but don't see it anywhere.

Yeah I already got Fly'N. Game was too good looking to pass up. Pid looks really cool. These games deserve more notice.

I recommend you to try hard mode in Pid. Here's a trailer showing difference click. I didn't really enjoyed this game on normal, but after beating it on hard I must say it's one of my favorite platformers.

Also try N. Version 2.0 came out recently. click

Giana Sisters and Super House of Dead Ninjas would be my top to picks for this question at the moment.

Intrusion 2. Technically a side-scroller, but close enough

what exactly are you interested in? Action platformers, puzzle platformers?

a few that I've enjoyed:

Giana Sisters (action platformer)
Trine 1 / 2 (puzzle platformer, Trine 2 has online co-op)
LIMBO (atmospheric puzzle platformer)
And Yet It Moves (puzzle platformer)
Waking Mars (puzzle 'platformer')
Vessel (puzzle platformer)
Snapshot (puzzle platformer)
eversion (awesome puzzle platformer)
Deadlight (action / puzzle platformer, Steam cards are going to be added soon)
Braid (puzzle platformer)
Terraria (sandbox platformer)

Good list, although Deadlight has the worst ending I've ever seen to any video game and automatically made me go from thinking it was a cool game to a terrible game in the span of 20 seconds.

To add:
Mark of the Ninja (stealth platformer)
Blocks That Matter (Puzzle Platformer)
Cave Story+ (Action Platformer)
Clones (Puzzle Platformer - Lemmings clone)
Closure (Puzzle Platformer - Actually a really cool idea that I've never seen done before)
DLC Quest (Not sure how to describe it but pretty funny)

Those are just some of the better ones on my library that I've finished.

oh yeah Mark of the Ninja was very good, forgot to set the category to platformer so I didn't even think of it, really enjoyed doing no detection runs on each level. I like Clones as well, but I've only played an hour or so of it so far

Terraria & And Yet It Moves are fantastic. Vessel is pretty good too. Didn't like Braid. Haven't tried the others.

Something no one will probably mention, Cargo Commander. Very unique platformer of sorts, randomly generated levels.

Dust: An Elysium Tail? Speaking of which, I want this game...

EDIT: Ah, didn't read your post properly, you've already finished it. I'd say the Trine franchise then.

I second this. I've only just started Trine and I'm really enjoying it.

Odworld: Abe's Oddysee if you're in it for the story. The opening cutscene will draw you in right away. Its a pretty challenging puzzler though.

if you want an exploration/adventure/2d plat former, go play An Untitled Story, it's free: http://www.mattmakesgames.com/
despite how it may look at first, it's actually really good, and pretty challenging. He also made jumper which is pretty good. and he has some other games there but I haven't played all of them.
