Why do a large majority of people log off directly after a trade before any thanks is exchanged?

Iv not had this issue..Most the time I am showered in thanks..Too be honest, I would rather have someone say log off then spam me with thanks and me ignore them and me look bad.

Happened to me twice tonight and it's happened a few times before. Figured it was just rudeness but was slightly paranoid it was hack of sorts or a sign of dodgy gifts

I don't know why you always have to say thanks.. Sometimes people are just not bothered to say thanks so they log off straight away I don't get what's the problem with that maybe they're not in the mood getting added by 20 people to trade same thing

Fair enough as well. I'm not one to want to conversate but a simple thanks in chat is fine to seal the deal

I even played with people taking my games and giving me games. Haven't got any jerk cases yet.

Maybe they're not logging off, but immediately removing you from their friends list giving them the appearance that they had logged off?

Well this could be true as well didn't think of that. It is immediate after the trade.

I always say thanks and maybe chat for a little bit. Everyone I've given gifts to has done the same so far. I'm not surprised there are people that disappear right away though.

Never had this happen, thankfully. The closest to completion I got was a person that told me to add him and never accepted my friend request. >_>' The rest just sat on my friend list quietly for eternity.

It was a business arrangement not a favor. I don't thank my boss for paying me.
I do tend to stick around and chat awhile about the games being traded and tell the person to have a good day. I never thank them. What am I thanking you for, not wasting my time?

In all fairness, the money is not out of his boss' bank account, but rather the company's. On top of that, you're being given what you're owed. A paycheck isn't charity so payment is expected. It may not be the most polite and proper thing, but it's not necessarily incorrect, either.

When I was getting handed checks, no. I'm not going to thank you for doing something you're legally obligated to do. If you give me a bonus or pay me in advance then that's different. Either to show my appreciation of the fact that my boss appreciates me or I requested it (asked for a favor).
