Because it was a timed offer. According to GOG's tweet, other games may be removed and new games may be added.

Lol, I got a free Prison Architect. GOG connect just added it to my library. I only owned PA for a couple of days 2 years ago before it was removed from my account.

dang, wish I had started doing this when it first came out.. ahh well, this caused me to buy two games from GOG which weren't on steam.. Willie Beamish, (loved that game back in the day) and the Saboteur, thought that one was EA exclusive, was strange seeing it on GOG, but for 3 bucks, I had to grab it.. now to hope the bewbs are uncensored like the console version I used to have..

You probably would win the jerk award. Seriously why would you even consider this?
Afaik, if gog were to check again at some point it would be removed from your account. If you were caught abusing the system frequently them I expect you would be banned from gog altogether.

There's a FAQ at the bottom of the Connect page.
If I no longer have the game in my Steam library, do I still keep it on GOG.com?
If a game is removed from your Steam account for any reason, such as through manual deletion or a refund – we reserve the right to remove the games from your GOG.com library.

If you're only interested in that specific game then you just make your steam details private afterwards then they can't check.

Not saying you should, just that there are options. Ultimately tough it's irrelevant. they've put that there to cover themselves in case it ever comes up but its unlikely that their ever going to actually check anyone.

I never noticed that before ,isn't that a bit outrageous .
They're two separate stores and i can't see how that can be legally possible.

Because people abuse everything, always.
1) You see a game you don't have on GOG connect
2) You buy it on steam, and you pass it to GOG
3) You refund it on steam but still keep it on GOG
Does it make sense now that GOG can remove your game?

Bought World of Xeen, Crusader & Al Quadim on GOG to tide me over an upcoming no internets period, and seeing Prison Architect pop up aswell was quite relieving!
edit: Just realized there´s also Pokemon Uranium and the Metroid remake, yay :)

Yup! Briefly played it in my youth (came with "Bestseller Games", a fantastic german magazine), but my lack of english or RPG skills by that time meant my biggest achievement was brewing/finding/buying an air walk potion, reaching some cloudy area and totally getting lost/cut off there :p
Will do better next time!

Same, no luck (yet) with Toonstruck. Hopefully later. (and Jagged Alliance as well, as above.)
Edit: Both found now!
Happy about KoDP though! (and KoPP+1 too I guess)

This is huge news:
Introducing GOG Connect
GOG Connect
Important: You can connect only one Steam account with your GOG.com library. This process is permanent – choose wisely!
Important 2: If you own some of the games and Connect doesn't recognize them, press the Refresh button and wait a while (can be a few minutes, hours or even a day). The reason for this is that GOG is using the Steam API to scan your Steam library and the API has a limit on the number of calls it can make for a given period of time. If you're still having problems, refresh your GOG account (simply clicking the link is enough; this is different that the Refresh button on the GOG Connect page!).
Important 3: In case you are still getting the message "Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." after waiting a while and trying the account refresh link above, then it would be a good idea to contact GOG support. Many users have reported that their problem was fixed quickly after that.
I really hope more games are made available, because this could raise GOG's popularity significantly!
Edit on 29-April-2020:
Thanks to BrianFarnet: The GOG Connect Steam group is a useful way to get notified about future batches in your activity feed.
