Which Game Should I Play Next?
I chose Fallout (if I had two choices, I would have chosen Wasteland 2 as option #2).
Fallout is a really fun game, and its storyline is quite dark (on the character's level, not just world-wide). The graphics don't hold up too well, but they aren't horrible. You may need to find a fan patch for it (I know there is one for Fallout 2, which is a must!), as the end scenes that play that show what happened to the various areas that you visited will skip and stutter if you play it on a recent computer (too fast for the game!).
As mentioned above, there is a timer involved in the game, but the timer involved in finding the water chip is easy enough to work around. However, the engine is hard-locked (they only had so much memory in-game back then) to crash after playing for a certain amount of time (I'm not sure the exact in-game date that it will crash on, but it should be available online for you to check out). This crash will happen on that date no matter what, and if you aren't close to finishing that game in the saves leading to that point, you may have to either re-start or re-load an earlier save!
Those flaws don't make the game any less fun to play. It is a really good RPG, and the combat is a lot of fun (and very gory, especially with the Bloody Mess Perk). Beware that your companions are brain dead in the AI department, so there will be times where you'll have to reload a saved game due to them either killing you, killing a different companion, or getting themselves killed. Still, it is worth having them!
If you do end up playing this game, and need any hints, feel free to ask me!:) Have fun, regardless of which game you end up choosing!:)

Thanks for the input. Someone earlier mentioned the FIXT mod for Fallout 1 which says that it fixes about 150 bugs and does some other stuff to make it work better. Based on everyone's feedback it looks like I'll probably be playing Fallout 1 first and I'm really looking forward to it.

Gotta be the Classic Fallout from that list. They don't make them like they used to but what it lacks in graphics and refinements, it makes up for in gameplay, charisma, charm and the sheer challenge of it. Fallout 2 would be a better choice than fallout 1 if that was available but you have to play one of those is you want to see how the modern rpgs have moved on. (not as much as you think)
If you want something that is a bit more modern, wasteland 2 would be my choice.

Fallout, followed by Fallout 2, if you're into "oldschool" isometric RPGs they won't disappoint.
One big piece of advice though.....never give your companions automatic weapons or explosives, they do not care about friendly fire and will quite happily mow you down along with that Raider that ran up and tried to stab you.

First Fallout is boring. Only fanboys and nostalgia hungry old dudes like it. It is a good game for its age, but quite boring nowadays.
Wasteland 2 has some serious balance problems. Also quests are incredibly vague, most of the time you have to read shitton of stuff to do good things. It'd be okay for me but the gameplay just isn't worth it, it's really unbalanced.
I haven't played the rest but I'd suggest you to try Divinity 2, it's really good and aged okay-ish.

That is, in my experience, simply not true. Some elements have aged poorly, the interface is clunky as all heck, but I've talked to plenty of people who played the game long (10 years+) after release, who still enjoyed the game for the setting, writing and the sense of freedom you get in it.

I've not played all those games, but I guess I'll give my thoughts on the ones I've played, so that you can make up your mind:
Avernum 2: Crystal Souls: Did you play Avernum: escape from the pit? Did you like it and are looking for a game that plays almost the exact same way, but with a new story? Then you'll get what you're looking for from this one. I found the story slightly less engaging than the first one, but it was still not bad.
Divine Divinity: Divine Divinity has pacing issues, and leaves a poor first impression, with its overly long first dungeon. It's not a bad game though, as long as you're able to get through that first dungeon. Combat is similar to that of Diablo.
Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game The interface has aged really poorly, but the setting is still great. If you're able to play a game that has a clunky interface, you'll find a lot to like about this one. The setting is far more well realized in this game than in Fallout 3.
Legend of Grimrock 2: Did you like Legend of Grimrock 1? LoG 2 is very similar, but it has a more open world. It's a better game than LoG 1 in most ways.
MASSIVE CHALICE: I really did not care for this one. It feels like they ran out of time and money in the development process and half-arsed something. Combat gets very repetitive, and feels like a simplistic version of what we get in Xcom. Not recommended. If they were to introduce several new classes and new enemy types, and give the game some more variety with the maps, I might change my mind, but it does not look like that will happen.
The Age of Decadence I've not spent a lot of time with this one, but it's another one of those "great setting & writing, clunky interface" kind of games. Quite a tough one at that. It seems great, just, much like in Fallout 1, expect to fight the interface a bit.
Thea: The Awakening: I would consider this a strategy game, rather than an RPG. An interesting one though. It has balance issues, and it's not as intuitive as it should have been, but there's a lot to like about this one.
Wasteland 2: Director's Cut Another one with balance issues, and the pacing in the earlier parts is not great, but once you get into it, an interesting world with a lot of things to do, and fun tactical combat opens up. If you decide to play this one, expect to spend a bit of time with it before you get any payoff, but the payoff is worth it.

I have really enjoyed my two playthroughs of Divinity: Original Sin but I haven't really touched many of my other turn-based rpgs. I want to go ahead and get into one soon and I would like your advice. Also, if there is a turn-based game (it doesn't necessarily need to be an rpg) that isn't mentioned above (and that I haven't played yet) that you think I should play, let me know. I own all the games listed above.
