Happy with the deal ?
BIOSHOCK ON STEAM: If you already own BioShock, BioShock 2, or Minerva’s Den on Steam, the remastered version for the corresponding title will automatically show up in your Steam library as a separate game
So probably yes

For anyone that is interested in Skyrim Remastered, if you want to support Bethesda or even just get a cool thing, I would highly recommend getting the Elder Scrolls : Anthology. You get all games (excluding ESO), all DLC, and a map for every single game. You can pick it up for about $45.

That's like saying it's important to support McDonalds. I think they'll be sticking around for a while regardless.

They doesn't mention anything about this. For Skyrim, the Legendary edition or all the DLCs are needed though.
"the remastered version for the corresponding title" So this probably means that the upgrade is for each title separately :)

FYI, if you own Minerva's Den, you get Minerva's Den Remastered too. xD

question: if you have any unactivated extra key for those games, will it still be eligible for an upgrade if it will be activated on a steam account?
Comment has been collapsed.
also, another question, I am not sure if it is mentioned but, do the old version still remain or are they planning on removing them?
Comment has been collapsed.
Purchase disabled rather than removed so the store page is still accessible.
Comment has been collapsed.
my guess is yes, because for these remastered versions to appear automatically in your library they probably just update all the current steam packages containing these games to now also contain the new ones. So your key will still unlock the same, but now updated, package.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. Remasters have been added to packages for the original versions. Whether you redeem a key for he d version or the new version you get both.

So I'd say yes, since they allow actvation of old cd keys (Games for Windows Live keys) from the physical copies, there's no reason why they would not to do the same for old unactivated Steam keys.

All remastered and "definitive" editions should be free upgrades on pc (assuming you own all dlc). I'm looking at you dishonored, sleeping dogs, and dead island. It's pretty insulting that they expect people to pay for mild graphical improvements.
Comment has been collapsed.
Meh. It might be time consuming but it's essentially a patch. They just repackage it as a newe release to resale to console players since they have hardware generations. If new content is added I have no problem paying for it like the Hard Reset Redux.
A discount would be appropriate as well I suppose but I would never personally pay it.

I just spent $7 on Bioshock +Bioshock 2 but unable to get Minerva's den as it cost a lot right now. It costs more than Bioshock 2 itself on resellers website, where as it costs $8 on steam as well. So skipping that for now.

Same, not gonna buy Minerva's Den till it goes down under 4 euro.

Refer to the thread, yes, you will get Bioshock 1 remastered.
Comment has been collapsed.
I never understood that line at the end of the first Bioshock. What if you choose to obey?
Comment has been collapsed.
If it's a choice that you would have made regardless, then it's a choice. If you're obeying an order that you wouldn't have ordinarily gone through with, then you obey. I suppose it could be rephrased as "A man makes his own choice, a slave lets someone else make the choice for them." but I guess that's not as poetic.

Will the original titles disappear from the steam store? I'm missing Minerva's Den and I wonder of I will get the remaster upgradeif I buy this after Sept. 15?
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm wondering the same thing, since a lot of rereleases tend to supersede and replace the original version. I'm considering just buying the DLC now for collection purposes, since trying to buy it or trade for it in the future could be quite a bear.
Comment has been collapsed.
From what it sounds like we'll keep the original copies as well, these will just be added to the library, and (most likely) the old store page listings will be removed and replaced with the remastered versions.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I see that but my question is rather will I be able to get the Minerva's Den DLC for the original version after the upgrade or do I have to buy it now because it will disappear and only the remaster version DLC will be for sale? And if I buy the DLC after the new version was launched (e.g. from 3rd party sites like g2a etc.) will this license also active the DLC for the remaster Bioshock 2 game retrospectively?
Comment has been collapsed.
It would be bad if 2 was removed because Bioshock 2 REMASTERED doesn't have multiplayer.
Comment has been collapsed.
According to the Bioshock 2 Remastered Store Page, it includes both Bioshock 2 and the remastered version, so it looks like multiplayer is preserved that way - everyone getting the remaster on Steam will have the original, too.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are also on sale on humble store, picked up the first one just now for 4.49. Really hoping there's a better UI in the new on, it always annoyed me, have a physical copy somewhere, but sounds like a pain to verify those, for under 5 bucks I'll just get it lol
Comment has been collapsed.
probably cheaper is finding cheap boxed copy of B2 /w GFWL key, it will give Minerva's Den free. (same for old batches of steam keys, but those might be hard to find)
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks! Without this thread I'd missed to turn my retail versions to Steam versions and with it to remastered.
Comment has been collapsed.
Anyone remember when you could get the Steam version of Borderlands with just the retail DVD, required for a free Steam copy? Seems 2K now they want you to send proof of purchase, and i bet nobody keeps their receipt of this old game. They should had made another Granting Tool for Bioshock ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Comment has been collapsed.
I did it ... they want a foto of DVD, of the cover and a piece of paper with e-mail and ticket id written on it ... that's all ... was easy, and I received my Bioshock 1 key within 24 hours. Bioshock 2 key worked out of the box

just got myself Bioshock 2, so Im all good for the remastereds coming out now that I have "all " the games (only missing Minerva's Den but that can wait)

Can't wait to play 1&2 again after so many years, hopefully without the sound problems of 1 and the DX10 crashes of 2 this time.

Nothing to do, just wait.

Their Steam announcement has a Timezone converter link provided under the "I own BioShock on PC. How do I get the remastered version?" section of the article, it's already setup for you.
Link
For example for my region it's 1am on the 16th. (Next Day)
