Well, it should give you +1 soon. Most likely when you activate a game :) I activated one recently and got +3 (the game + the remasters)

going thru librarys though it appears in SpirescuAndrei's, but not yours or mine

so like Spirescu said, it probably will after something else is activated or maybe after we play it for a little bit.

they meant it does not add a +1(+2) to the librarys counter (3562 +2 bioshock remastered games = 3564). and it did not until i activated another game for me either. if you check out your library it does show up there for you, but checking studips library it still does not show up or count in their library until they activate something else.

By the way, not only it's nice to receive the free upgrades, it's also nice that we get to keep the original versions in our libraries as well...

*cough*2K*cough* *cough*Mafia II*cough*

EDIT: Which is a logical move since not everyone has the computer requirements to run the remastered versions as smoothly as the originals.

Shame both remasters seem very shoddily thrown together.

Mouse acceleration is still a thing, just as it was on the original. Bioshock doesn't seem to have any surround sound (or any settings for it) - so you have to manually edit the config file if you want that. Bioshock also crashes every time you you even think about windowed mode and Bioshock 2 still doesn't have any FOV settings what so ever.

They really did the bare minimum here. :/

Bare minimum, but free. *shrug* :D

Holy sh*t 20 gigs for each! Damn... Better be one hell of a remaster :)

EDIT: seems like the install prompt is wrong. the 1st is only 12.5 even though it says its 21,000MB...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The install prompt shows us how much it will occupy after installation... usually it is always more than the download.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

12.5gb download that will probably extract to become ~21gb install =)

the captain beat me too it xD

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I thought the way it works is that it gives you the size of the game during the unzipping/extracting process where it's at it's largest size, and then ends up deleting nearly half the files when it's done installing.

really each and every game has a different scenario there tbh. some game are hardly even compressed and just download an already installed version and just cause you on first time run to install the essential files necessary to run that game. some download a launcher version of the game and do not actually download the full contents of the game until you run the launcher. some like in this case download a mix of uncompressed chunks of the game and some compressed parts of the game (the textures and sound files are all compressed while the binaries and runtimes are all left uncompressed), then at the end of the download it uncompressed & deletes the compression parts. there are probably a few other ways developers do it too, but these are probably the top3 ways its done.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah I was just thinking how in GTA5 the game is roughly 50gb or so, but you needed about 100gb of space to install it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

ark is a weird one like that too, it downloads 8gb (tiny compared to what it becomes) of data, then uncompresses to a whopping 42gb.. then every single week when they push an update.. it downloads another 8gb to just overwrite all of the contents over again.. worst and lamest form up updating i ever seen tbh. its easier to just uninstall the game and redownload each time they update otherwise i run out of space cause it wants 2x 40gb worth of space to update (when all they added was ~800mb worth of "new" data).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

on the otherhand though, ark does have the most impressive compression rate i ever seen. so it sucks for updating in those regards, but having that small of a download size is nice =)

I'm quite happy that I got the remaster as playing the original game always made me feel super sick for some reason. Achievements are quite a good addition, too. People aren't talking too good about it in the reviews, though.

yaay Bioshock 1 now has achievements... oh some people have 100% them already....

Maybe they transfer from the original somehow? Highly unlikely though, probably people who've completed the original using SAM.

The Original Bioshock 1 didn't have any achievements.

can anyone confirm if these extra 16gb include this video series?

"High Resolution Textures, Models and Interface "

And more:

The video series, “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock,” featuring Ken Levine, creative director on BioShock and BioShock Infinite and Shawn Robertson, animation lead on BioShock and animation director on BioShock Infinite.

Museum of Orphaned Concepts: Walk through a Rapture-inspired virtual museum that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at discarded concepts that never made it into the original game.

Challenge Rooms: Outside the story of BioShock, tackle puzzles, splicers and Big Daddies. And achievements, of course.

can i get remastered if i activate key for Bioshock or Bioshock2 after that day ?

Most likely yes. Store pages indicate only the Remastered editions are for sale, but they are packages that include the old version as well. So probably existing old keys will activate the package with both versions as well.

Bioshock 1 isn't showing up as having cards in idle master, just the 2nd.

Edit: Ignore me, it's because I was playing it the other day, so it doesn't need to do the 2h thing... lol
