I'll try to remember to post a quote daily. Here's a start:

We're each of us alone, to be sure. What can you do but hold your hand out in the dark?

Ursula K. Le Guin

Happy 85th birthday, Ursula K. Le Guin!

Obviously I invite others to post here, but let's keep it posi!

The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never be sure they are true.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

I don't have any authority to talk about the domestic policies of America. But as an outsider, I am mystified by the fact that you are encouraged to buy a gun, but if you use it for the purpose that it is expressly designed for, you get the death penalty. That aspect of America is kind of mystifying.

Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing.

Much agreement. I sometimes still tell fans of Joe Abercrombie and George RR Martin to read Cook because he set the tone for so much of their (imo) excellent work.

Albert Einstein

When Albert Einstein (born March 14, 1879) graduated, his first job was as an assistant examiner at a patent office. His work there may have helped lead Einstein to his theories about the connection between space and time.

Jay Sylvester: [regarding the changes made to the original Star Wars trilogy] "George Lucas may be the brainchild behind Star Wars; he may have come up with the story and a lot of the characters, but everyone who participated in making those films had some type of creative input. I mean they won an Oscar for best special effects. Some of those effects are stripped out and replaced with CGI enhancements, if you wanna call them that. I think that that's really disrespectful to the people who worked on those models and did those shots. "

CGI has gotten out of hand in hollywood. Our brains can tell that it is fake compared to a real physical model. The shadows and textures just can't compare to real life.

Well I know you're a fellow dyed-in-the-wool old school SW fan because I recall you posting something about how you still have a VHS copy of the original SW:ANH where HAN SHOT FIRST! And he did, dammit.

In fact if you haven't seen that movie I linked above you really should, it's meant for fans like us.
