Patreon's rolling back their position on the fee structure changes:
We messed up. We’re sorry, and we’re not rolling out the fees change.

Hopefully, people who cancelled their pledges will go back and reinstate them and this will be water under the bridge for people counting on those funds. There's a delay between contributions and payments, I believe, so it may not make much monetary difference before the end of the year, but I imagine knowing things are getting back to normal can be a relief.

What I'm most surprised about is that Google hasn't offered a Google Wallet-based alternative. They're always looking for ways to promote their payment system, and this seems like a natural fit, as they could easily integrate it with YouTube (and to a lesser extent, Android, Blogger, Google+ and other Google services).
