And this why we need GOG to be bigger!
(Or Steam without DRM but that's not happening so..)

Um.. we're talking about being able to play a game without a launcher..hence DRM-FREE. If the site/company went down there would be no issue with playing games like there is now. Read my reply below about playing offline.

The games are still DRM-free in your PC, it's not like it's streamed to your machine. Did you try to launch them without Galaxy? AFAIK the inital "start".exe (or whatever the game uses to launch itself) is still available. I play for example FTL and can start it either from within Galaxy or without. That's why they insist on the launcher being optional. It'd be a big mess if they made such a mistake in locking the launcher with the game. Take a look at it..

Hang on, now you're confusing me. What do you mean "with no games installed or install files downloaded" ? Either way you download it, you can still run it with or without Galaxy running, ie the game is installed. In fact I just tried one game, installed from within Galaxy and ran it both ways. I am not sure I understand what is the problem in this case.

Of course if you have never downloaded the game and the site goes bust, you're out of luck.. (or proper planning so to speak). I don't take the internet connection as granted so the usual thing for me is to download the ones without DRM because I may play them elsewhere. Unfortunately I follow the same system as you for Steam, and now I'm stuck without Torchlight II.
Your only solution to this would be a hard copy, heh.
But alright, I see what you mean now. Nice nest we created here..

That implies that you have the very latest version of the game and that you have updated auto-enabled. For many various reasons that's not always a good option. So if your game didn't update you cannot play offline..

Xbox servers are working fine for me both dashboard and multiplayer games, same as uPlay, Origin, GOG and Battlenet.
