THE GIVEAWAYS ARE OVER

THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING

IT WAS REALLY GREAT TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE SOLVING THE PUZZLE

I'M GLAD TO HAVE GIVEN SOMETHING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

I WILL MAKE MORE PUZZLES AS SOON AS I CAN AFFORD THEM

Welcome to my rad puzzle!
(and my very first too)

Theme: Higgledy-Piggledy

Rules

First off, before participating in this puzzle, please read the rules of the site.

You mustn't leak the answers or give hints regarding this puzzle. However, if this should happen, you'll be blacklisted, reported and all the giveaways will be deleted.

If I don't notice leaked answers, please inform me.

About

Welcome fellow Steamgifters!

I made this puzzle because I wanted to contribute something to the community. Also, I love puzzles and making one was quite fun! :)
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did with creating.

There are several stages with different ways of solving.

You'll have to solve the puzzle step by step and the first one is finding it, which shouldn't be too hard.

Unfortunately, I can't afford too much, but I'm sure there will be people who want to play the games I give away. Obviously, it's not Bad Rats (or is it?). There will be several giveaways, one of them is a whitelist one.

There is only a low level restriction (level 1+).

If it should be too hard (it probably won't), I'll give (more) hints.

Time

You have 1, 2 and 4 weeks to solve that puzzle. After this lapse of time ends, all the giveaways are over. Read more below.

Hints

  • If you're stuck, read everything carefully and twice.
  • Do not rush, look for the clues and you will find everything.
  • The puzzle is quite linear, so focus on what you're currently doing.
  • You'll need some tools for solving some parts, it should be obvious what to do though.
  • Read between the lines.

I will add further hints if needed.

Hints for Q3 of P1:

  • Think like you attend elementary school. (What are you when you attend elementary school?)
  • There are less than three different digits in the code.
  • The two digits are 0 and 1.

Slot limitation, giveaway releases

Due to my slot limitation, I'm only allowed to create 3 giveaways at once. This means there will be several phases with giveaways with links from different places, too.
You will encounter the the first links rather early. There are two giveaways, one of them is open for all and includes 2 copies, the second one is whitelist only and has a single copy. These two giveaways will last two weeks.
Later, you will find another giveaway; it will start after two weeks and end one week later.
Even later, the puzzle is finished and the last giveaways appear. The first three of them will also start after two weeks and end one week later and the last two will start after three weeks and end one week later.
When the last two giveaways end, the 4 weeks ended.

Sorry for the complexity, but I had to do it this way. :(

To clarify with a list:

  1. Part 1 of the puzzle
    • 2 copies giveaway (week 0 - week 2)
    • whitelist giveaway (week 0 - week 2)
  2. Part 2 of the puzzle
    • giveaway (week 2 - week 3)
  3. Part 3 of the puzzle
    • giveaway (week 2 - week 3)
    • giveaway (week 2 - week 3)
    • giveaway (week 2 - week 3)
    • giveaway (week 3 - week 4)
    • giveaway (week 3 - week 4)

Note: The times may vary a bit, because the winners have to mark the gift as received.

Whitelist

There's a special whitelist giveaway for some people who managed to get their name on the list!

Bump

Please bump the thread from time to time, that would be very kind, thank you. :)

Good luck and enjoy the trip! :)

Haha, no, but I agree this can be a bit irritating. I just prepared this puzzle 3 weeks ago and reserved a thread. :) Good luck! :D

Looks like I'm the second to reach the ITH puzzle. Hi perrolijo!

Congrats! :) Should not have been too hard, way to go. :) Btw, the puzzle theme is 'higgledy-piggledy', because the ways of solving are very different.

Thanks, I enjoyed the process of reaching the ITH quiz and I hope to see more challenges like that, as opposed to the random guessing. :)

Hello Kota. You stole me the last question :C

You ninja'd both Q7 and Q8 while I was typing those answers so I guess we're even. :)

Bump!

EDIT: There are 1814400 possibilites for Q3. I guess we will have to come up with the code used :P

You'll probably have to. :) Same letters = same numbers.

I'm also at the ith puzzle now, too many possibilities for the last two remaining questions. Bruteforcing Q1 with ten people would still need about an hour max. If we take a coordinated approach That is somewhat feasible yet still a pain in the a.. But Q3 is near to impossible: it would take 15,100 hours or 630 days putting all possible answers into ith. Even with a coordinated approach with 100 people it still would take 6 days without any breaks. :-(

The more players, the easier it is. Also, after 500 guesses it's not unlikely that you found the answer.
About Q3, you're not supposed to make random guesses, there's a real code which shouldn't be too hard, you have to think a bit. ;)

Heh. Still I'd prefer a finer solution to a simple brute-force. Hope Q3 is not about it.

Permalink

It seems q3 is all about bruteforce, so it is almost impossible to solve it right now

I already said it's not random, it's a real code which makes sense.

I'm glad you understood that - I didn't want to give out too much information for those that haven't gotten there yet.
Hopefully it will sort itself out later, there's still time.
In case I didn't stress this enough - great puzzle by the way, loving it so far. Love logic puzzles because you can "figure it out" rather than resorting to brute force.
