Should I?
Not correct at all IMO. More like Witcher 2 = Witcher 3 = Witcher 1. Each game does something different, and has strengths and weaknesses
Witcher 2 has a great deep political storyline (that might confuse new players), interesting and nuanced new characters and the single best sex scene in a game ever, but not so great combat.
Witcher 1 has great worldbuilding and atmosphere, but the graphics, animation and combat are janky as hell and the sex cards are juvenile.
Witcher 3 has great graphics and better combat, but it's main plot is rather rubbish, especially if you've read the books and know the lore well. The side quests are good though, but a lot of content was cut and features cut back; it's development cycle was messed up and mismanaged. It's also a terrible sequel in the sense that it doesn't explain the outcomes of things from TW1 and TW2, although the forthcoming expansion might fix that.

But you've forgot that world of W1 and W2 is so small, compared to W3. So, quests, graphics and combat in W3 are amazing. AND! W1 and W2 were science fiction (OMG, guys, I have an amnesia, don't remember what happened, really!)

I don't think you know what science fiction is. The Witcher series is all fantasy. There's no Sci-Fi.
But you've forgot that world of W1 and W2 is so small, compared to W3.
Witcher 3 is filled with a lot of filler content. There are too many bandit camps, hidden caches, guarded treasures ect, it's copy pasted everywhere. Hell, half the map under the swamp area under Bald Mountain is completed underutilised. It's mostly empty with a few monster nests. None of the rewards are really useful either because the best gear is the Witcher gear that you craft. The Witcher 2 was the best is this regard, it was all killer, no filler. Yeah, the maps in TW1 and TW2 are smaller, but that isn't really a valid criticism. Those games are linear games, not open world like TW3. A big map doesn't mean that the game is better.
TW2 respects your free time more (especially if you only have a little like me), because there's less boring things to do. Clearing the same bandit camps in TW3 100 times isn't fun, it's just busy work so people can say, wow, this game is 100 hours long.

Yeah, but you agree that cleaning boring encounters isn't obligatory? I've played like 80 hours already and still in Novigrad

I would recommend it to you on 100%. If you have a strong machine that can run it to enjoy it fully :). also dont forget to play W2 as well so you can carry over your savegame.

good good. so you can jump right into it then. I hope you will like them as much as I did.

Can you also carry over your savegame from W1 to W2? Does it even matter if you do, like what changes? I never understood save-transfers between games and their point, unless the second game is a direct sequel, that is if the previous one was unfinished.
Comment has been collapsed.
yes you can, from W1 to W2 you carry over some% of money and exclusive items, like an armor and a sword(s)(? not sure if only one or two). as well as some decisions you have made in the first game. from W2 to W3 it can be a little minor visual changte to Geralt from one quest and again your decisions. Not sure if items. I lost my saves so I didnt have the opportunity to transfer them.

I am not sure if there will ever be one, looking at the non-free DLCs, the content is literally huge. CD Project RED put so much effort into the first DLC and the second one will be twice as big, I doubt it will be bundled all together in a GOTY version.

CDProjektRed doesn't release GOTY edition. They release Enhanced Editions :P

I needed around 130 hours for the main game.
Not sure if you will even get to the expansions, unless you start playing right away :P

Personally I think TW3 is GOTY. Best game I played in some years.
But if you still need to finish TW1 and TW2 I'd wait a few months. Maybe it will get cheaper in the winter or spring sale, possibly with the expansion included (which is totally worth it already imo).
Just be patient if you dont plan on playing it any time soon.

This game is worth the full price so definitely worth getting in a sale! Idle your games up to the last minute so you can get as much money in your steam wallet as possible, then go for it! :)

Just 1 and 2. It may happen for 3 but there are no immeadiate plans.

AFAIK Ubistore still has whole Witcher 3 Trilogy for $30, they give gog key, you will not be forced to use Uplay. Or even cheaper, if you live in Central/Eastern Europe, as unlike Steam they have lower prices for those countries.
And then, there are Russians, since GoG has no DRMs, you should be able to get Russian Witcher 3 even cheaper from gog, with help of traders.

Since chronologically Human Revolution comes first that wasnt strictly needed

My day only started 2 hours ago.
No but it's your wallet, you know what you can miss or not, we can't look in to that, we don't know how much you want it, etc etc.
Look at youtube gameplay videos, read reviews (game magazines or steam) you get alot more information.
Because it is a (over)hyped game, you just get alot of yes sayers.

Yes, you should buy the Witcher 3.
If you haven't played this game, you really missed out on one of the best RPGs ever made.

I don't think there will be a much cheaper offer in the next 3 months. :D
The second expansion will come out in early 2016 and they will wait until that sold before they will offer a bundle of game and all DLCs.
I'd buy the Witcher 3 now and wait with the season pass until you beat the main game of the Witcher 3,
which won't be in a loooooooong time.

Highly recommended to buy it, although i stopped playing it after 20-30 hours of gameplay because im bad :')
if you actually wanna check out some other keysites, maybe you will get it even cheaper (if you wanna look for below 30€)
Other than that, go buy it and there are plenty of mods on Nexusmod afaik, so you can even make the game better :D

I always like to use mods that do not change the game in its balance and gameplay, since I want to experience the game the devs intended it, so yeah mods are a good thing:)
I could not find a cheaper offer than 30€ - 6,50 and counting
(Apart from using russian keys, of course)

Graphic mods are awesome:) Before I actually start playing a game I like to tweak it a bit with SweetFX and manipulating ini files and so on:) The internet is full of guides for that, so there is very litte effort, and they can make a game even more astonishing:)

that's what im talking about x)
Sadly my CPU is now about 5 years old and won't handle the big games as good as it did earlier ..
The most frustrating part is, that i can't play the game with the NVIDIA Hairphysics locking the game down to 15 fps without having the 960gtx + GPU :')

YES WHY DIDNT YOU ALREADY!
NO WAITING TILL DECEMBER! GET IT NOW!
I bought it for 42€ and I HAD A BLAST of a time. I love the game and I was never such a Witcher fan. Now, I'm thinking of buying the books to read, AND I HATE BOOKS.
30€ is a great price and honestly, I think that game is worth the full price.

JUST LOOK AT MY PROFILE PIC!
EDIT: On a more serious note, Witcher 3 set a new bar for gaming in general, not only RPGs. The game is so easy to immerse yourself into and the choices matter a lot. I completed it on the hardest difficulty and I hate playing on hardest difficulties.

I paid the full price for the Witcher 3 and when I finished it I felt bad, because I felt I hadn't paid the developers enough for this masterpiece :P

Witcher 3 is the best game in the franchise. In terms of gameplay, it's diametrally different from Witcher 1, but I actually enjoyed it way more - in story terms, too. But play it after finishing 1 and 2, the story will make a bit more sense.

I remember there were mods for Witcher 1 and 2 that improved the combat and a lot of other shortcomings in the games. I was looking into it when I was planning on playing Witcher 1 but never got around to it.
I watched some reviews of Witcher 3 and some have criticized the combat on that too as being unrefined and dumbed down, basically catered to the consolers. But I hear the story, voice acting, and characters are good.

Hey Steamgifters:)
I need your advice: currently I am playing the Witcher 1 and I got to admit: although I am not really into RPGs, this one is impressivly good, I enjoy it so much except for the combat, but that's another topic. I plan on playing the whole franchise:) As you probably all know, The Witcher 3 is on sale for 30 bucks on Steam and GOG, and I am thinking about buying it. First I tended to buying it on GOG, because you know, DRM-free, but then I decided to buy on Steam since I can use community setups for Steam controller then and I also have some money 6,5€ in my steam wallet from selling cards, and I am idling as much as I can about 270 card drops remaining... it's been a while since I used Idle Master, sorry:/
So, what do you guys think?
Also, mandatory GA coming in a couple of hours, not home ATM.
Thanks in advance for your help:)
