So, The witcher 1 and witcher 2 is now on sale on Steam. I still have credits left that allowed me to afford to buy both Witcher 1 and Witcher 2.

So, For people who played it. How is the game?

I played the first one for 10 hours. It was pretty much fun. Enjoyed it just like the books. Sadly i didn't have time since that to continue.

Both are good story driven rpgs. Witcher 1 has point and click type of combat, it turned off a lot of people, also the questing can be a bit convoluted. Personally i don't mind it (combat), in particular after you get used to it, but i understand the complaints. Witcher 2 is more action oriented (picture it as a mix between arkham games and dark souls), they did a great work with the impact you have on the choices you make, so if you like that kind of game you wont be disapponted. They both have interesting stories and lore and characters, i honestly think they still have a lot to improve in the gameplay and combat department

The first one wasn't all that great, just couldn't get into it for some reason. The second one however... Oh boy, that game was fantastic.

I've only played the first so far.

The combat is different than most games and it requires some strategy. I was actually almost turned off by the combat because I didn't entirely like the style, being so used to just spamming attacks in other games. The story is compelling and the characters interesting. Overall it's a great game and the only game I ever bought at full price. Definitely worth it.

circa 80h of deep, mature action rpg, with nice graphics and great, complex story. for less than 6$. just buy both and dont ask again;) unless you do not like this genre.

These games worth even the full prices. It is one of my favorite fantasy worlds (and characters), also read the books. So yeah, don't hesitate, buy it.

I really couldn't play the first one for long. I dunno why really. Probably something to do with the combat system and it felt a bit weak in some ways. Just my opinion.

Both are great, didn't get too far into first one because I lost save files after 18 hours into the game. Witcher 2 was really good, I loved both combat and story, graphics are amazing too. Some people don't like the Witcher combat system, but I find it unique and very enjoyable.

The Witcher is a one of a kind RPG. It's not your typical bioware game with "good, neutral and bad" choices. There is no wrong or right choices while you play it, but they'll effect your story heavily, regardless of what you did.

They're both games that are story driven and choice driven, meaning you'll find yourself taking a lot of decisions, and add that to the grim darker scenary of a medieval half-fantasy poland.

Gameplay wise, The Witcher 1 is better than the second, giving you a point-and-click combat with tactical elements, while the second game try to venture into the "action" area, ending up with a messy and confusing combat that will end up leading you to keep rolling on the ground for the major part of every battle. That can be solved with 'Combat redesigned" mod.

If you like RPG's, story driven games and choice related ones, you should definitly get the games, they're one of those hidden gems that oftenly don't get too much spotlight by general media.

I have to admit combat in the first Witcher wasn't its strong point, it felt like a poor rhythm game with how it worked and Igni sign breaks almost everything.

They're worth the full price. No reason not to get them at the current discount.

I didn't play 2 yet. I mean I ran it once to test it, but didn't really play it. I need to finish 1 first. And it's awesome. One of the best RPGs I ever played. They say 2 is even better, so yeah. For the dozens and dozens of hours of gameplay you get, the price is just awesome.

If you like to read, if you like to think, if you like RPGs, get these games. The combat isn't the best part of the games (especially not in Witcher 1) but the story more than makes up for it. And with this discount, there's no excuse not to own them.

p.s. Once you get sucked in to the Witcher world, check your local bookstore/library for Andrzej Sapkowski... :)
