Unicorns? Fuck it! I'm a POTATO! A freakin' awsome one!

In Romania, drinking is not a bad habit, it's tradition, we could say țuica is our national spirit. It's really nicely flavored, apricots, plumes, mostly apricots in my area.

Visit Romania, too, I am thinking of going to some other country and I'm not a nationalist, but damn, Romanian culture doesn't seem to be replaceable by ANYTHING.

In Lithuania we don't have many traditions. Main tradition is inherited from russians, which is drink as much as you can and then start a fight.

Well, in some rural parts of our country people drink pig's blood when they slit its throat...

More civilized regions are not as hardcore, though =)

I'm from Texas in the United States. We don't really have much tradition or culture, so i can't really tell you much I know some history and philosophy, though, if you want to hear about that. Otherwise, I guess I don't really qualify.

We're also a bunch of filthy redneck savages. If you hate gays, foreigners, immigrants, and minorities, and you think women are property, and you hate liberals, Texas is for you. Or Saudi Arabia.

Hopefully, my curmudgeonly attitude doesn't dissuade you from your decision. Thanks for the whitelisting! I've returned the favor, for what it's worth. Feel free to remove me any time.

I am American, and one of our newer traditions is the presidential pardoning of the Thanksgiving turkey. The President of the United States pardons a turkey from being slaughtered for the Thanksgiving meal. The birds are usually given names(e.g. Flyer and Fryer), and there are usually two of them so that one can serve as a backup.

Oh boy! I want to be whitelisted...

I am German, and while we are very big on traditions, I don't tend to care all that much for the most common ones, Oktoberfest, Musikantenstadl, Schuetzenfeste and so on.
But I do like Karneval, a combination of masked procession and street party that happens once a year. Cars and carriages in colors and fantastic make-up parade through the streets and people through candy to the happy masses. Ah, free candy...
I don't have a photo of my own handy, but Google provided one nicely. Thanks, Google!

Gosh, the only UK tradition I can think of is Fish and Chips...

My hometown however, Westhoughton, is known as CowieHead traditionally, because back in the 1500's or soap cow got stuck in a wood fence and they freed it by cutting its head off. They then discovered that the cow had died...who'd have knew?

In my country Bulgaria we have a tradition called " Baba Marta", which is celebrated at the begining of March. We tie a "martenichka" on our wrist, and you can't untie it until you see a stork( usually at the end of the month).

The mushroom stealing has its roots very deep here. Whole families are raiding innocent forests to gather baskets and baskets of mushrooms during the season. It may not sound that bad but it's devastating both for the nature and the folks, as there are thousands of thieves lost forever in the woods annually.

The other tradition is to build slums in the "nature" – just behind the city borders, most likely near the railroad. It may look like a paradise but it really is not. People living there are so poor they have to grow their own food – these are not tool sheds, oh no, up to 4 people live in each. Also no running water, barely electrified. They are near to every town that has more than ~4000 inhabitants. In my city of 100 000 there are about 20 of those "Garden colonies" – that's how we pejoratively call them. And people from there are "silly redneck gardeners."

So, yeah.

I am from Serbia and we have many traditions, one of it is "Slava".That is some kind of feast dedicated to family's saint( every family has their own saint, all families do not celebrate it on the same day ).Who does not celebrate goes to others who does. That is the great way to meet with your old friends, drink ant eat traditional food with them. The slava cake is a traditional bread typically decorated with religious images(usually with cross).
