I like to watch my downloaded movies/anime/TV shows on my iPod Touch, but converting them to the correct format has always been a hit or miss for me. I've tried various methods in the past, but I can't recall any of them coming out perfectly. There's always some issue such as subtitles becoming miss aligned (unless the videos were already hard-subbed).

So I was wondering: what programs/methods do you guys use to convert your videos into a mobile format?

Ye, that's what I last used and the subs were indeed fucked up.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I may end up going that route.

This: http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/

Might want to run Malwarebytes after installing it, it likes to add some self-promoting adware. After that's gone, your set for converting.

I've unjailbroken my iPod recently since I didn't really use it for much and wanted the speed back, but I'll grab the lite version of OPlayer and look into it. Thanks.

I don't know if it's any good compared to everything else, but I usually use Xilisoft Video Converter.

I'll probably do a comparison between Xilisoft and Handbrake (recommended down below). Thanks for the recommendation.

I don't know if you get that on your iPod Touch but for my Android phone I use MX Player. It plays everything even .mkv 10bit videos. So besides looking for convert programs try to look for other video players for your iPod.

Hmm, there is an MX Player or two in the appstore, but I think my iPod Touch is a bit too outdated to make use of them.

I will look into more video players though; thanks for the idea.

Could try Handbrake. No idea if you'll still have trouble with subs, though. Maybe someone else can share.

Handbrake would do that for you. It will keep your subtitles and it also has presets for the ipod touch.

@Mercenary09, xamon0288: I'll look into Handbrake. I think I've bumped into it before, but never gave it a proper try. Thanks for the recommendation.

I use MediaCoder religiously. After installing the full edition, start the tool and to go the Features menu, select UI Plugins > Digital Media Players and select iPhone / iPod / iPad / Apple TV. This will bring up a new window where you can select your device screen format, video bitrate (determines how big the file will be and how good it will look). Then drag-and-drop the videos to be converter and press Start.
