Just ran into a situation where I stupidly bought the wrong game on Steam and wished that it had Origins new refund thing. Ah oh well, guess I'll have to just deal with it.

Perhaps you should buy in Origin from now on?

And I thought this was going to be a topic where you were planning on getting a game in Steam, dual activating in Origin and then trying to get a refund on it. I know at least one person was asking how to get refunds on Origin games he got in the recent bundle.

What was EA's reaction?

No clue. You can only view games you have purchased within the Origin store itself in the refund list.

Origin only refunds for EA games, not everything they sell. How did you accidentally buy the wrong game?

Basically, I was multi-tasking and not paying attention to what I was clicking, meant to buy Dawn of War: Soulstorm, ended up getting Galactic Civilizations II. Don't ask how I got from one to the other.

Gal Civ 2 is actually a very fun game, if you are interested in Civ games.

It looks fairly interesting and I've watched a friend play it in the past. But I was looking forward to getting the other game.

You might try contacting Steam support about it. I bought a game once for a friend because Steam said he didn't own it when in fact he did. Steam support gave me a "one time only" refund to my Steam Wallet.

I looked into it and it said to contact the game's company so I've done such a thing. Hoping I get a response but I said in the support ticket that I'm fully understanding if they don't want to give a refund. I messed up and it's my fault not theirs.

Oh yeah. I've seen cases where CS gave refunds and stuff as one-time only gestures. Maybe threaten them or something.

Technically that was their fault, so it was right for them to fix it, even though they couldn't stay quiet about the "one time only" thing.
