When my friend realized that I was sitting at 5998, he sent me Mimpi and SquareCells.
And I only noticed myself because after a trade the other person commented on me being 2 games away from 6k.

At each milestone I try to calculate and even wait before register a bunch of keys to be sure that the game I want will be the chosen one :)

Usually I see a new Indie Gala bundle, add a bunch of random junk to my library, then remember I was going to wait for something good instead but it's too late. :)

I almost did that with an IG bundle last week! It would have pushed me over 6K! Thank God I noticed, haha! Need those special games for the special numbers! :)

Thanks to an overly generous friend who felt compelled to nudge me over the edge, I have now ascended from a simple Digital Deity to become an almighty Collection King. That's right I now have reached 6000 games in my Steam library.
I will soon send my tax collectors all over the land to gather all the gold, food and fair maidens for my personal enjoyment.
However, since I'm such a benevolent tyrant, I will first provide gifts for the plebs as a celebration for my new crowning.
