Men always except middle age more than women... I am 30 and my wife keeps pointing out she is only 29... all i need to respond is that she will be 30 in a few months and she cares about her age a whole lot more than I do!

Unless you can spin the narrative that women mature faster... in a way that makes it believable that it's the other way around. :P
And honestly, i don't think the number matters that much, as it's more of a personal thing. No two people are alike.
I've met people in their 60s that feel as young as they did when they were 20 and i'm 34 and sometimes feel like an old fart. To each their own i guess. Either that or just how happy you are with life regardless of the moment in time. :)

I haven't had an age crisis since I was 28, and this was quite a few years back. I'm not planning to have one again, and don't see any reason why I would. And if you're content with your life, there's no reason for you to have one either. It doesn't matter one bit if people tag 40 as "middle age" or not.
