I don't get it, people having 10mb/s downstream are saying they have slow internet. Seriously?

That's what mine is like at home as well. At uni I get 15Mbp/s download and that seems fast compared to home. Can't imagine what other people have who are on 60Mb/s or even 100 as per the OP...

The cake's a lie, since the highest speed that I've ever downloaded with for more than 3 seconds is 1.2mb/s, but oh well.

Do you understand how megabytes and megabits work?

Sorry, I mistook the megabits for megabytes. Thanks for pointing it out. The cake's not a lie anymore for me :D

This fast

My internet's fairly fast, but the lines in my neighborhood are old and the signal is weak, meaning I'm prone to dropping out from time to time. The rest of you guys though make me jealous

For me, the speed isn't as important as reliability. My ISP cuts in and out multiple times throughout the day. It doesn't matter how fast it is if it is so unreliable that it creates some sort of frustration block in my mind that prevents me from playing online games. "Well, what's the point of playing multiplayer if my internet is just going to derp up after 15 minutes and piss me off."

For the record, my download speed is usually 1-4mb/s. Usually depends on the server I'm downloading from, and Steam is pretty much the only place that will pretty much cap my bandwidth. ALSO, that speed test means megaBITs per second, not megaBYTES per second.

There's a difference, although I'm not entirely sure of the specifics of megabits. Though, your download megabit speed is like 5 times as much as mine.

around 48Mbit down, and I pay 18€ a month (that also includes TV). I'm not complaining. And it's really reliable, only a few cuts a year, which are caused by them, all others would be on my side.
