okay, trolling is one thing, but I meant it more from the perspective of the adder - how many people do they think will seriously fall for whatever they try to do? (I assume there are some people, but maybe not target active people from here? There are threads + warnings about this all the time)

yeah, i honestly have no idea there. especially in this case with them trying to impersonate someone with this high of status and it being pretty damn obvious. i can understand the high rep trade people being impersonated and scam attempts, but this one is out of the ordinary and doesn't make much sense to me.

because anyone could call out anyone then - we didn't accept the invites, so we can't prove that that's actually a scammer. I'm not 100% sure if this still valid when the user's perma banned on here, but better safe than sorry (for you, I mean- calling out can get you suspended for a few days)

the callout rule is one of the hardest to comprehend. i honestly don't know if this one would of qualified for it or not.. it's better to be safe then sorry though.

I had one of them too once. I entertained him for a bit - apparently I had won a raffle for GTA V (or some big game that had just released at the time) and he just needed my Steam username and password to give me my prize...

Some trade bans last a few weeks only. Depends on the severity\repeated offender thing.

I don't have the request anymore, but on the page where you can accept/decline/block, it said something like "this user is currently trade banned" in red letters next to the user's name

So, an extremely amateurish cg impersonator just tried to add me. The name + private profile were fine, I guess (custom url was just missing an s), BUT the guy was trade banned on Steam, and going back to his SG profile, perma banned here. Who would accept a request from a stranger who's currently trade banned? Steam warns you before you even add them XD btw, are trade bans on Steam permanent? Or do you just w4lTx it out until they're lifted? also btw, there's a gib somewhere shouldn't be hard to find but it's over now :(
