I've been wanting to get a proper gaming audio setup going for years, and finally this week ordered myself some starter equipment.
Grabbed the Schiit Modi 3+ and Magni 3+ DAC/AMP stack, as well as FiiO FH3 earphones. Hope they're all as good as people say, else will have to look at more expensive options (Moondrop Blessing 2: Dusk and the Sennheiser HD 650 both seem good).

So anyhow, what are you guys using? Anyone with some really over the top audio setup, or who'se tried a lot of different DAC's/AMP's/Headsets and has any suggestions?

EDIT: Schiit Modi 3+ and Magni 3+ are a bust (returning them). The FiiO FH3 ended up being good though.

Wow, that's one expensive setup you've got there! But it sounds like a lot of fun! :D
I've gotten to experience setups like that a few times before, really makes games so much more immersive.
Your cat is probably totally oblivious to the noise atp though and just likes his vibrating bed :p

Would love to build my own setup like yours one day, though I have a strong preference for the MartinLogan Electrostatic speakers. I almost jumped into the Hi-Fi audio world a few years back and was checking out every speaker on show room floors I could, but no matter how expensive they were none of them really wow'd me until the MartinLogans, so they're probably my 'endgame' (especially at the $1000+ per speaker price tag).

Headphones are good for directional audio like playing an fps and being able to hear where you are being shot from or incoming footsteps. I just use speakers for the most part, I've got Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (2 speakers 1 subwoofer) and they haven't failed me even after a decade of use

nothing special, I treated myself for my birthday with some genius swhf 1700 2.1 sound system for around 70 bucks a couple of years ago but I live with other people so I rarely put them on full blast. I also have a4 tech hs800 headset that my sister got me for like 20 bucks, which i only use when I play/talk with my friends iver discord

Aorus GC-WBAX210 (Intel Ax210 + Bluetooth 5.2 LE) with AptX codec
Dali iO-6
Dolby Atmos

Even if game does not support Atmos, Dolby app makes magic anyway.
Playing mostly Dirt Rally 2.0 and I can't stand it's 'regular' sound anymore.

My "setup" if it even deserves to be called as such, consists of a Sound Blaster Audigy FX soundcard and a pair of Edifier R1280T speakers. Its not much and I am not very knowledgable about the topic of audio equipment, or music in general (I am musically illiterate, yet audiophile to a degree... is this a thing?), but I do enjoy listening to music and can discern certain nuances that others often dont even notice.
Being an gaming enthusiast with a limited budget, I made my choices keeping in mind that I would mostly use it for gaming and regular youtube music listening sessions. As such, I try to get equipment that wont break the bank but still provide a discernible quality upgrade compared to your everyman's commonly used desk setups. Of course, its only noticeable if the source audio itself is of good quality. But then It really makes a difference!
The speakers I mentioned are relatively new and their bass, while not as strong as my previous 2.1 Speedlink set, is respectable and richer than expected. Its a really great pair of 2.0 speakers! They might be really handy when I will finally shoot my long planned movie.
Though I have to admit, I miss that extra strength from the subwoofer, so I am considering an upgrade to a Logitech Z623. People say it sounds fantastic and its around the price range I'd deem the roof of what I can allow myself. Looking up the gear you mentioned, its obvious that you seek things that are way over my budget.
As such, I am affraid that I cant suggest anything that would provide useful to You, as you seem to be much more informed in the topic at hand. But given the infodump I just wrote, do you have any budget suggestions (which means preferably under ~160$) that could elevate my experience by some degree? Or is this question meaningless as my price point is too low?

Have been using Asus Xonar Essense STX + Sennheiser HD598 for about 7 or 8 years by now and won't change a thing unless something finally breaks (aside from replacing defective elements, of course: had to purchase new ear cushions a couple of years ago because my sister's moronic late cat had torn one open).

I use some cheap 8€ Sony earbuds. I see no point in investing so much money in headphones or speakers 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cheap headphones. I don;t put much money into these things because I have a habit of breaking them by accident.

It´s all in the cord, even good headphones tend to fail If the cord is too thin or the plastic gets too thick.

Onboard sound on the Z97 Pro motherboard, plus a pair of Sennheiser HD598-SE (?) that I got half price as warehouse refurbished.
Had 'em for a long while, never needed to change a thing. Though I should probably buy some replacement earpads now they're starting to get pretty worn. The motherboard drives it just fine on its own.

I mean I'm stuck with DDR3 RAM on this motherboard but it plays everything just fine, even if I won't be maxing all settings on the top end games or anything. Its nice to push everything to its limits but honestly keeping at the top of the game in any technology takes a LOT of money, and just isn't worth it IMO. Plus when it comes to audio its not just about raw power, but finding what sounds right to you. Sometimes you just get something that doesn't sound right for whatever reason. Before these Sennheisers I had one of the original HyperX Cloud (1) and they were great. Only £50, the most comfortable I've ever had, and while the sound was a bit 'dark', it was still very clear and the bass didn't make anything 'muddy'. Before that, I was using a specific cheap pair of in-earphones that were £12 a pop but had surprising clarity.

Sometimes you don't need anything extra to drive your headphones, and the premium you pay for the audiophile-grade stuff won't really be noticeable until you're acclimated to certain levels of audio clarity. I don't know if there's anywhere that would let you test certain gear though. Here's hoping your new stuff is worth it though. There's something special about pulling back the little extra layers that you never knew were obstructing your favourite tunes. Sadly it pulls back the layers of your wallet in equal measures ;P

I'm gonna be over here buying refurbished and just using motherboard or cheap-driver stuff :D

I am using the Sennheiser 660s, which are fantastic headphones, with a Schiit Fulla 2.

By the way, I love how it registers in the device manager: ^^

For some time I used some Corsair headset (VOID ELITE USB with fancy useless RGB lightning). I'm sometimes using a Logitech cheap stereo system (Z313). I could also recommend my bluetooth Phonak system if you are hearing impaired like me :)
