It's not looking good for my puzzle-creating days. :P

Well, that one I was able to solve. Bump, and thanks. :) Still not getting the first one, though. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

I'm a bit confused about the "who did it?" question. None of the people are named. How am I supposed to refer to them?

The hints (and puzzle title) should guide you to the source material (for lack of a better term), which will also inform you on how to use the story.

You'll have to earn it. (If this is not many times easier than the other one, I'll stop doing puzzles for good.)
If you've already solved the SPIT puzzle, you should still solve this one for an unbundled GA.
Post event explanation:
The solution is found after realizing that the game is Clue (aka Cluedo). In the original version of the game, there are 6 suspects, 6 weapons, and 10 rooms, all represented on cards (in addition to the game pieces/board). The game works by removing one of each (which forms the solution -- the who, where, and how of the crime), while the others remain in play. The players identify the solution by identifying and eliminating what remains.
With that in mind, the text of the puzzle names 5 characters, 5 weapons, and 9 rooms from the game. The solution, therefore, is the last remaining character, weapon, and room: Mrs. Peacock, in the dining room, with the knife.
