How many of you contributed? I'm cautiously optimistic about the awesomeness of that project.

Website (main crowdfunding is here)

Kickstarter (additional funding)

Edit: They were under $4M when this thread was opened and in a few days they've almost reached $6M!

Edit 2: Over 6.2 million now.

Edit 3: It's over, with a total of $6,238,563 raised.

I think it's currently the second biggest crowdfunding game project ever, after Project Eternity. And it's likely to become the biggest by the end of the campaign.

Wasn't Project Eternity less than five million?

Actually tempted to, but I dunno - not really my cuppa.

Potential GOTYAY. I've not contributed because I'm poor and waste my money frivolously elsewhere but I'll be keeping a beady eye on its progress. Make that two beady eyes.

This is an awesome looking game, contributed in the 1st week of kickstarter. If any one is gonna pull off a space sim of this size it's gotta be Chris Roberts. RPGs have Project Eternity and their fantastic team now space sims have Star Citizen. Hopefully means more "classic" game creators will try this approach with other genres (hasn't been a decent AAA RTS in a while)

Yeah. Hopefully these projects will be successful.

I've been seriously considering jumping on this. Those Chris Roberts titles were some of my favorite PC games as a kid. Elite was still my favorite though, so Elite: Dangerous has me crapping my pants with anticipation.

I'd rather play a finished game than a rushed one. Long-ish development time is not a bad thing.

Yes, of course. But I'm impatient.

Aren't we all :D

It's sad that the least patient people are the ones who set deadlines for developers. Hopefully the lack of such bad management will help the various large kickstarted projects succeed.

This will be the game to end all other games for me IF what is promised is actually delivered.

I thought pledging before it was even kickstarted (it was possible in their site) and when the kickstarter started I pledged in the very first day.

I was going to donate, but then I saw the estimated delivery. I'll wait until it actually comes out...

Very interested in it. Not very interested in adding more though, because they got their money, and I can wait and see what it turns out like. I aint throwin $30 on a game that could be a buggy piece of shit.

I have "spent" more money on kickstarter projects in the past year than I have on Steam

Which doesn't really say a lot, actually, but there it is. 2014 should be a fun year xd

So I went ahead and splurged for the 60USD digital thing.
