It's 10:30pm here and my tired brain really thought that someone in a sonic the hedgehog cosplay attacked an embassy in cuba. Took me a while to figure it out. I need sleep

It's 2 a.m. here. I'd actually imagined huge Sonic attacking a building (something like the marshmallow man from Ghostbusters) before I understood what was written. And I've never even played anything with that guy.

Using an inaudible sound device for a stealth attack "is quite plausible from a technical point of view"

What if these attacks can be channelled through computer speakers? TVs? Headphones?

Unlikely, those aren't capable of hitting the frequency ranges needed.

Need speakers made to hit those ranges.

Fucked up and disturbing, the inaudible sound could be hitting you day and night and you wouldn't even know it until "somethings busted". Don't know the whats required to build a long/mid range sonic weapon, but my guess would be, it ain't average Adolfo's/Alonzo's doing ...

There is an old urban legend among computer programmers that PC speakers (the beep beep kind from the old days) were designed to be unable to produce 7 Hz tones. This was supposedly due to a case from Australia where a factory was built and every time the factory started up in the morning, chickens nearby died spontaneously. As the story goes, it was determined that the factory was producing a 7 Hz tone and 7 Hz was the resonant frequency of a chicken's skull.

And that's how Cyber Chicken got created.

This type of stuff has been know about and studied for a long time, but I have never heard about it being used other than one time. Anyone remember the interview with the serial killer Aileen Wuornos? She was on death row and she wanted them to kill her instead of going through all the trials and sitting in prison. One thing she mentioned was about how she was being tortured with sonic pressure. She was on death row and nobody would believe anything she said anyway, so they probably used her as a test subject.

Check out the documentary Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer. It's about Aileen Wuornos, not about sonic weapons, but it's pretty good if you are interested in serial killers. The sonic weapon part is in the beginning of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9ytpB-lOBQ

Yeah, this tech has been well known since the Cold War. It's just never been used this blatantly.
