Yeah, I searched for decent group names for hours, it's surprising how many 1 member private "Esport" groups there are on steam. Most of the names that aren't taken by them are taken by Esport teams and usually copyrighted. Also, the logo is a placeholder that I made in about 5 minutes flat. I just thought I needed something other than the default icon.
Like I said, this group is unfinished. Pretty much everything about it will probably be altered at some point.

o.O thanks for pointing that out, I didn't realize. I'll change that as soon as I find a decent usable name. Feel free to post suggestions, You'll win a hypothetical cookie or something...
Edit: I renamed the group, we are now Ether Esport.

Could be interesting. Still, which games would you host competitions for? I mean, most of the competitive games already have tournaments hosted by serious plateformes, and people will most likely prefer them to a new group.

This is part of the reason I'm hiring right now. Tournaments will be limited to whatever the officers (and myself) own. Any game will be eligible for tournament play. Tf2, CS:GO and Dota will probably be used due to popularity and the fact that all of them allow me to either host my own server or make a private match.

You should try to find niches. Most of the times, they are really engaged in the game they love.
Also, you should put the games you want to run competitions for on the official group page. There's a special feature to do so.

well, Mods will pretty much just be doing standard forum moderating, Officers will be in charge of hosting and managing the tournaments.
Most multiplayer games allow private matches and spectating, I don't have a preference regarding which games are used.

thanks :)
It might be best not to join just yet though, as Larren101 pointed out the term "lemon" can be more than a little inappropriate and since Steam doesn't allow renaming groups, I'll have to make another. If you have any suggestions for group names, please let me know.

Okay, strangely the only one I liked came from a band name generator. What do you think of Ether Esport?

meh, if they complain I'll change it. For now it's the only decent name I could find and I've been searching for a while now. (I put about 8 hours into trying to find a name for the first group before giving up.)

Great, thanks for checking that. Btw, the renamed group is now open, I changed the link in the OP to reflect that. Anyway, I'm going to bed soon. it's 5:30 am here. If you join quickly I can mod you before I go.

I thought it said 'Escort' Hosting Group, my mistake, I was looking for Ho's. ;)

Well, unfortunately I ran out of gardening tools. I'd recommend looking here: http://www.gardenshoponline.com/catalog/index.php

Well, we could still make a tournament for it. Even though Ether Esport is a Steam group, it still can host tournaments on non-steam games. I'm actually thinking of doing a LoL tournament at some point.

If you really wanna host league tournaments I could help you out with different stuff like hosting the tournaments (officer) and if you need a script for online matching I could probably help you out too (I have some PHP knowledge) or just moderate a forum. Feel free to contact me if you need any help

Awesome, I live in an area with a huge League following. If we hosted a LoL tournament we could probably field two teams solely from people I know, and another couple after the word gets out that there's a tournament happening.

Well, there will still be prizes. I was thinking that teams would pay an admission of marketable items. This would both set up a small prize pool and deter trolls from the tournament.

I'm attempting to start up a group with the purpose of hosting and managing Esport tournaments on Steam, some giveaways will probably be hosted as well.
Right now anyone can apply to be a mod or officer, just leave a comment (here or in the staff application forum in my group) explaining why you want to be a staff member and how you could help.
The group can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/E_Esport
