Most wins get hidden by the "hide owned games" option if you are activating all your wins, but DLC and packages and "profile features limited" games and banned games aren't detected in the library. You already are not allowed to enter these giveaways but for now they can still show up in the list unless manually filtered out

Its because of the steam API they can't hide them correctly.

SG knows what you've won on SG, this wouldn't require the API

It would only require the manual input of all the profile limited games, DLCs and various packages into a database and keeping it up to date day by day. Also, checking every single of the monthly ~30-40k giveaways and again manually hiding the affected wins for the users.
Sounds like a fun, unpaid job.

That's only your wins, and there are like a million other accounts where each needs to be done...

The "you already won this game" can work inside SG because (theoretically) it can use the autogenerated GA name (that gets linked when GA is created, and validated by the user accepting the win as what it claims to be).

It's obviously not using API because it works even for DLCs ( tested with my Memoria Soundtrack). On the other hand, you also said that DLC and such are not auto-hidden because the API can't see it. Therefore the hiding-function is API-based, and that's why I have to manually hide DLCs I already own, and still l can enter for them. (Crusader Kings II: The Old God)

SG limits entering for won games in one system, and uses another one to hide giveaways. Yes, it would be an improvement if it could do both, but it's as easy as yelling (voice command) at a stampler (needs physical force) to work. They can/could be connected, by redesigning everything from the ground up. Don't really expect it really to happen, as it's really, really not as simple as you seem to think it is.

That link brings everybody to the list of their own wins. If everybody went and manually hid every game in their own list of wins that would be the same thing and no API is required to do that.

Edited my comment at the moment you were writing.

TBH I spent way too much time on this.

I feel like it does not work like you think it does. I may be wrong. Very easily.
If you're right and cg listens and implements it, it's a good change that I personally don't need but , but I'm still OK with it if happens.

And it knows whether it's been marked as Received.

Sounds like a reasonable point to me.

PS: you probably want to reword your OP to avoid the avalanche of unpaid volunteers that apparently have nothing else to do all day other than tell everybody that no improvement whatsoever can be made to SG because.

Yes, because having other opinions and suggestions about something is bad in a forum. We should disable the reply function and just have an upvote or downvote function.

In every forum I've been there's people who seemingly have nothing else to do all day other than nixing other people's suggestions.

My favorite however are those who feel entitled to responding rudely because they keep answering the same questions, something nobody asked them to do in the first place.

Edit: Would be better sugestion to change how your profile is synced against Steam. There are several scripts that have managed to sync "owned" tags for both subs and DLC. So doesnt seem impossible for SG to adapt the same method.

SG does know what you've previously won -> https://i.imgur.com/ahTHs6A.png

Please note that it would say "Exists in account" if the game is detected in your library by API

I edited my reply after I saw you mentioned the won page. I thought about your winnings more of whats detected by steam API after you have synced your account.

Didnt know GAs where noted as previously won if it didnt get detected by API, I guess it should be a fairly simple solution if there is already a database that detects it.

In my perfect world I would rather have a better solution for what gets detected in the steam sync, that would also solve things you dont win but already own.

it's a nice feature, but you can always manually hide those games by clicking the little eye icon next to a giveaway name

Yes that's what I meant by "manually filtered out"

I manually filter something out with the little eye icon if i don't want to see giveaways for it. I try to check to see if i own them BUT i do get that some people have huge libraries (mine is really very small). I definitely see why it could be handy

But if you won them already you can't enter them anyway. And if you can't enter, you can then just take the extra second and hide manually. Or is that an ESGST feature?
Edit: Should have read better :D So then ok, for me that feature wouldn't be necessary, but if people need it I'm also not against it of course

You CAN enter, that's the problem.

Yep, the feature doesn't seem necessary.

You can enter giveaways for stuff you already own if the API doesn't know you own it, and I don't have a solution to that. You can't enter giveaways for anything you've already won on SG, but the giveaways still show up because they aren't detected in the library

You can at least see them yourself right away with https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/y9vVm/userscript-steam-web-integration-previously-steam-store-game-owned-checker or similar scripts so you wont have to go to Steam to check if owned or not.

Everything happening automatically would be nice, but at least that shows you the ones that you haven't won here as well.

I really wish you could filter out all the banned steam games

You can use ESGST to tag games that are banned. Then you can automatically add all banned games (that you have already seen) to your hidden games. This can also be done automatically. I haven't done this myself but if you are interested I can look up the numbers of the ESGST options for you
I hope I remember all that right
