Hi, there.
I'm a sucker of old days terror films. With 'old days', i mean where everything was made with make-up and physical creatures, masks in a good way.
I dislike the nowadays computerized-graphic-fx-for-all.

So i'm looking for films like "The Thing" (1982) and such.
I like bloody, i like meltings, i like monsters, aliens or mutants. But also with a nice storyline.
I don't like to watch stupid non sense films neither.

Can you help me with a nice list of Old Days Terror films?

+18 i guess
Impressive effects, makeup and creatures for that epoque

Or course, i'm also open to modern fimls, but made with real creatures and makeup. Not much computer graphics.

Thank you and have a nice day :)

The Critters series for the odd laughs.
This one.
And another.
And yet another.
Been meaning to see this one myself.
Yes, I've seen this one too.
Another good one.
If I think of anything else I'll post them too. But you name it in that type of movie then I've probably seen it. I've seen a good 90% of the Tromavision catalogue.

Don't forget Ghoulies! IMDB link is here. Came out around the time as the Critter films but focuses a lot more on little creatures ripping people's throats out than Critters does, although I have to say, there are very few films around that have the comedic content of Critters, so good choice

I put Ghouilies on that list already.
Also, add in the Demonic Toys movies, 1980's Puppet Master series, Prom Night 2, the Sleepaway Camp series, the Tombs of the Blind Dead quartet, Basket Case...... Just a few more I remembered.

And if you want a laugh, Morons From Outer Space is a MUST watch.

Ahh, I didn't click every link, I apologise, my bad.

Basket Case was an awesome series, although got a bit silly towards the end, but I don't think there is a single movie title that DIDN'T get silly with it's sequels, horror movies, especially so.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space was a fairly average film that knew it was absolutely made to take the piss out of itself, yet in doing so made itself in to a cult classic

As did Braindead, (I believe it was called "Dead Alive" in the US), although if you're NOT looking for gore right now, give it a miss, I will say, though, that there is an absolutely TREMENDOUS scene that involves the basement and a lawnmower. It's another cult classic that every horror fan should watch at least once, plus it's good to save it for a rainy day when you DO want some gore in your movies

If you like thrillers/horrors you are gonna like these movies.
Tesis
Chaser
À l'intérieur
El orfanato
Session 9
Los ojos de Julia
Near Dark
Martyrs
*Haute tension

The thing is still an amazing movie and you are not gonna find many similar good movies. There are many horror movies which used same kind of effects(stop motion) but almost all of them are some kind b-movies with comedy element and not so serious.

+1 for Haute Tension - GREAT flick

Also would recommend Eden Lake and the Evil Dead franchise (original trilogy).

I saw that film long time ago, but i don't like it. I even don't remember the plot...
I'm not looking for focused on gore films. Just a nice storyline with creatures and so on.
But thanks for your time, anyway.

Have a nice day. :)

Not particularly monster movies but still great horrors: Village of the damned, Rosemary's baby, The Omen (original one of course), and anything directed by Cronenberg (the same director that shot The Fly) from late 70s to mid 80s- the latter should be exactly what you want.

EDIT: Oh, and Re-Animator of course

I am the same, not a fan of cgi, in small doeses its okay but they use it for everything. Old effects, animatronics etc are much more effective and I appreciate it more, shows a bit more effort too.

Some of these aren't horror though. I mean seriously Army of Darkness and House 2 are comedies with horror elements in that horror tropes are used as plot points. Movies are funny as hell (pun intended). Tucker and Dale VS Evil is a reverse horror movie if at all, probably just call that a comedy. I mean let me say it this way: Is Vampire in Brooklyn a horror movie?

I don't know, I mean they're both really, but if I was going to say if they were one or the other I'd say comedies (except Vampire in Brooklyn I'd say that is more of a horror film)

That all being said, those ones mentioned and all but a few others you mentioned are GREAT films. Good list.

Bad Taste for a comedic version.
Tokyo Gore Police or Meatball Machine for insane Japanese version. (some CGI involved, but most is good ol'fashioned costume work)

The The Wishmaster starring Andrew Divoff, (stick with the first one, the sequels are REALLY bad. Well, the 2nd isn't too bad but any after that and it's really hammering the nails in to the coffin), is a decent movie, if you haven't seen it already
