so , my old headshet got it's cable broken, so that only one of the speakers works. I'm really not sure which brand is good for headsets, so I came here.

If you just want for music, Then Beats and SkulCandy would be awesome but not cheap. However, If you need a mic too, then get A4TECH as they are cheap or get Razor Gaming Headsets if you got some spare money to spent.

Beats & SkulCandy? Are you insane? Well, beats is passable, but SkulCandy?

SkullCandy aren't bad. I have a pair of Hesh that I like. I bought them at Black Friday price though. Full retail is way too much on those.

Plantronics GameCom are decent too, though they discontinued all the more affordable models.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you said or maybe I'm just have sensitive ears. If you talk about branding and packaging, sure, skullcandy and beats is one of the best out there. If you talk about quality? Not only build but also output quality? I doubt skullcandy and beats.

And yeah, before you're talk "How can you say that?", I had purchased and tried them before (either for me or for my brother and sister).

I know Skullcandy makes one pair thats considered "ok" but most are total garbage, that goes to Beats also...

Beats Solo are bullshit.
On the other hand, Beats Studio and Pro are one of the best.
SkullCandy has good stuff and as far as i have tried them, they are pretty good.

I have tried them and I know they are good enough.

I was only saying that I have a pair of the Skullcandy Hesh and I don't think they're garbage. I'm sure there are others that are better. But these were $25, and they've been good.

If you ever feel the need or want to get something better for around the same price you can try these, for the price they are excellent, rival much much more expensive headphones and are a ton better then Skullcandys. Just be prepared for a 100-200 burn in period(They sound junk out of box).

Prolly these people have never tried the variety in the market.

Kidding? I own like 10 pairs of headphones, tried many, the only decent skullcandy are Aviators and those are not even worth the asking price to be honest...

You should try different better brands like Koss, Sennheiser, Grado, Audio Technica, Ultrasone, etc...

I have tried all of the Beats headphones, they are awful and are just a bad fashion trend.

I got beats and skullcandy.
Beats are good and so are skullcandy even though i sold em away now.
Reason wasent they were bad. I felt ok with beats and didnt needed a different one as one is enough for me.
These people make all kinds of stuff. Bullshit and Good.
Some might be bad but some of their stuff is actually good.
If i remember right, It was Beats Solo that had awful sound and i called Beats bullshit but then i tried Studio and they were pretty good.

I don't recommend beats at all. They have a lot of bass, ok, but very weak and barely heard medium and high pitches... Very poor overall quality if you listen to anything else other than rap/hip hop. I, for one, use a pair of Razer Electra on the streets and a Razer Banshee on my pc. Epic volume to make my ears bleed and quite ok overall sound, even though the frequencies do not seem like much. SkullCandy actually have quite OK frequencies, loud noise, quality and durability.
Again, there are a lot of variables depending on what you want the headphones for...

Problem is they aren't even good for hiphop, I like hip hop and I like good bass, all Beats do is give you lots and lots of bloated distorted bass, rather have accurate quick hard hitting bass that doesn't eat the High's and mids.

it's true. Just because you have them, and haven't used the others, they can't be good. Not sure about skullcandy, but beats are totally shit. They look quite good, but the quality of sound is horrible.

Just ask your friends who have sennheisers or audio-technica to use them for a few times. I think you'll feel the difference.

If you want quality go with a headphones with a separate mic. Headsets have terrible audio quality for the price .

How much can you spend on headphones and a mic? We can't just name random brands if we don't know the price range.

Here's my recommendation.
Audio-Technica ATH-AD700
With a Zalman MC Mic1

I guess the only downside is that the cord is about long or so I heard, you can always wrap it like I do with mine.

But if you think that's to much you can always go with the Creative Aurvana Live (60 euros) or the ones I use the AKG 240 (110.52 euros).

The 240s have a remove cord which is great, the cord it comes with is 9 feet long, but you can always find a shorter length one online.

Edit: I'm not sure if Amazon.co.uk ships to other places in Europe D:

Anything from Sennheiser. It doesn't matter if you want gaming or audiophile headphones/headset they've you covered.
Personally I use Sennheiser PC 350 and I almost can't say anything bad about it. Headset is very comfortable and your head won't hurt you it wear it for a long time. The only minor flaw is that it's closed type so it gets kinda hot after a while and you need to take it off, but other than that, awesome headset.
I was lucky to get two pairs for only 60 euros.

Yeah I recommend the Sennheiser PC360 headphones too, unless you need the closed design because you play in a noisy environment such as at a lan in which case the PC350's would be better.

You're much better going to a site like Head-fi, your best bet is a decent pair of Headphones and a clip on mic, I had a list but must have misplaced it...let me go look.

Edit: Can't find it, anyways here are some to check out:

Creative Aura Live

Sony MDR-V6

Ultrasone HFI-450

Audio Technica Ad700

Koss DJ100 (Might wanna replace the earpads if you get these with M50 pads)

Audio-Technica ATH-M50

Then grab a mic like this

This. Would replace the Ultrasone with the 550 but okay. I wouldn't go with the M50 either. Also, you were probably thinking of this list.

I would personally prefer other cans over the M50 these days. The M50 used to be pretty awesome but some newer stuff really do outdo it for the same price.

I got these for 120$ with the mixing console, it would have been 90$ for just the headset. Anyway, true surround sound FTW! There's probably some other good 5.1 true surround out there now. When I purchased those, choices were very limited. Anyways, make sure you understand the difference between Virtual Surround and True Surround before choosing. Basically True 5.1 Surround has 4 speakers in each earcup and offer better sound direction and Virtual Surround only has 1 larger speaker in each earcup and offers better sound quality. Since I play games a lot, sound direction is important to me.

Going by Amazon reviews it does use a sound card it seems. Review

I still say your better off with a clip on and regular nice headphones, to be honest surround sound in headphones is really gimmicky and with a decent pair of headphones that has a nice sound stage would actual mimic surround better.

Don't know about Sound quality, they work for me, but Razer Orca/Carcharias are the most comfortable I have ever used. I Can barely feel them when wearing. They muffle some external noise, but don't make your ears feel as if they are in a Vacuum like my Sennheisers did.

If you care about sound quality, headsets are not your way.
Check some good headphones (+ some mic, for example Zalman Zm-Mic1), for example something from audio technica, beyerdynamic, krk and so on (check some reviews). In same price range quality headphones sounds incomparably better than any headset

I can recommend the Asus Vulcan (ANC / Pro). The review sums it up quite nicely I think.

They are really comfortable, and I don't feel them getting hot, even after hours... They have active noise cancelling, so if you live near some noisy road, like I do, they come in handy! Also the surround sound is very nice, although it is virtual. I do think of myself as having good hearing when it comes to music, so if you want one for music appreciation, you can find better. Don't get me wrong, the sound is really good, but they do miss some oompf when you're really concentrating and listening to music. But I never do that when I'm sitting at my computer: always doing something else too. You can't go wrong with these for general every day use. Excellent headset!
