I'm currently using Norton Internet Security (got it free with my new computer a while back). I only have 11 days left though, so it's time to find something new. (I meant to ask this sooner, but keep forgetting)

I've used NIS for a few years now and I've never had any problems, however I'd like to find a good free software that works just as well or better.

What would you guys recommend?

Don't use antivirus, it slows down your pc. Instead, just den't get a virus.

AVG + Comodo Firewall, you can't go wrong with that :)

The NoScript addon is your best line of defense.
From what I've been told, Anti-Viruses only detect 40% of viruses / spywares. Basically I think they are pretty worthless. Just be careful when you browse.

It's free and "it's something", but can't compete with other AV such as Avast (imo).

ZoneAlarm Antivirus+Firewall by CheckPoint worked great for me but Avast is working well too... Anyways I'd always choose NIS full version over free software

I started out with Trend, then Avast, now MS Security Essentials. Whichever one you choose, don't use more than one. It can cause all sorts of conflicts with your machine and well, just don't.
